Aquaria from RuPaul’s Drag Race is THE ultimate aquarius! If your astrological sun sign is aquarius, Aquaria is seriously the guiding light for you. As Drag Race fans will know, Aquaria won season 10 of RuPaul’s drag race – but she did it in a true aquarian fashion. Watching her win, I couldn’t help but identify with her. Here’s why Aquaria is the epitome of an aquarius, and what we aquarians can lear from her!
Aquaria is a little bit cold at the beginning of season 10. She is in it to win it when it comes to the competition, and from day one she says she is there for there for the crown and the crown only. Although most of the queens always say similar things, Aquaria is often perceived as much colder than everyone else. But that is truly just the Aquarian way! Aquarians are often so standoffish, or at the very least, seem detached or unemotional when it comes to what’s happening in real life. However, this does not mean that Aquaria, or Aquarians for that matter, don’t care! Aquaria shows time and time again that she really cares for her drag sisters, and it’s beautiful!
From day one, Aquaria is kind of seen as the queen to beat. Everyone knows her from instagram, as a famous makeup artist/drag queen. And it’s true – Aquaria is a force to be reckoned with. Aquarians are known for being independents – exactly what Aquaria is. Not only is she the winner of the season, but throughout all the episodes, we see her always leading the pack, with some of the most sickening outfits ever to cross the Drag Race runway. Aquaria get some of the highest praise from the judges, wins multiple challenges, and never lands in the bottom. Independent much?
Aquarians are renowned for being some of the most inventive beings on this here earth, and Aquaria definitely proves that to be true. As mentioned before, Aquaria was a well-known queen before being on the show. And not only is she well known, but she runs in the club kid circles of New York City – where RuPaul Charles himself really got his career going. Aquaria was noticed by Susanne Bartsch, the undisputed queen of the New York nightlife scenes. If she notices you on a night out, that is basically your ticket to fashion and partying greatness. AND the fact that Aquaria achieved this before she turned even 22 years old? I mean??? COME ON! This queen is inventive!
Aquaria is so so smart. And girl, Aquarians sure are intelligent! With Aquaria, her intelligence shines from many facets. First of all, each and every one of her looks is meticulously planned out, with a fully realized concept. She is extremely knowledgeable about the herstory of drag, and about those who have come before her; the women of the past continuously influence all of her looks. Additionally, she is up to date with all of the references made throughout the show, even though she is one of the youngest queens ever to grace the Drag Race stage. There is no awkward ‘Aquaria not knowing something’ moment from season 10!
Lastly, Aquaria’s time on drag race, and as an Aquarian, leaves us with a perfect quote. In RuPaul’s song, American, Aquaria’s line “playing at the parties and I know that I am carrying, I might be an Aquarian” – this encapsulates Aquaria. She dominates, she is confident, she is unique. Just like Aquarians!
