Top 5 Ways To Get In Shape And Have Fun Doing It

Get in shape this year and make it the most productive twelve months of your life. If you’ve been trying to lose weight and feel great for a while and nothing seems to work, stop trying and start having fun! By letting yourself find a workout routine you actually want to do every day you will be able to keep on top of it and not let yourself relapse into bad habits. These exercises ideas aren’t just quick fixes, they will help you change your life.

1. Dancing

Find that summer bop that makes you want to move your body and turn it up to eleven! Shake up the average workout that slows down your day and makes you feel like crap and try dancing your way to a better body.  Dancing is a great way to get in shape while also having a ton of fun. It is a great source of cardio and strength training. It’s up to you how you want to dance. You could join a fun dance class and learn a specific type of dance, that way you can get in shape in a learning environment with other people and come out with a new skill.  If a dance class isn’t your style then dance alone in your home. Dance every morning you wake up and every night before you go to sleep. Starting your day out with dancing is a great way to get energized for your day and get in shape. Meanwhile dancing before bed can loosen up your muscles and get rid of the stress you’ve been holding onto all day long. You don’t need to be a professional dancer to get in shape using this funky technique.

2. Join A Sports Team

Comradery and sportsmanship can be a great energy booster and help you get in shape. By joining a sports team you aren’t just exercising you’re making life long friends by competing with your teammates. Competitions will get your adrenaline pumping and you’ll be running and jumping faster than you ever have before. Even if you end up losing a game, you’ll still feel like you pushed yourself and you’ll want to try even harder the next time you play. If being competitive isn’t your style, then join a team that doesn’t compete, you can still get your heart racing without the chance of a trophy at the end of it all. There are so many local sports teams or university level clubs that you can join in your neighbourhood that will get you outside and help you get in shape. By participating in a sports team you will be doing basic workouts like running, lifting and learning how to be more agile, but you won’t notice it because you’ll also be having a ton of fun. Get outside with a ball, some friends and a couple of uniforms and have some fun all while also getting into impeccable shape.

3. Fitness Class

If joining a team isn’t really your idea of fun, but you still want to work out with other people, then join a fitness class. Fitness classes are a fun way to get in shape because not only will you be able to share in the comforting fact that other people are struggling too, they also can help you stay committed to your work out goal. Fitness classes are usually scheduled for twice a week, and you can pick a day and time that works for you, but they also cost money. The class costing money is actually a good thing though because you won’t be able to ditch when you’re not in the mood because you know that you’ve committed something important to it. You don’t want to waste your money on something you won’t do, so make sure you pick a class time and a class routine that you can stick to all year long. Fitness classes are also intended to be fun and get you moving, this way you don’t feel like you’re working out on your own, instead you’re just hanging out with your friends and sweat happens to be involved. Visit your local recreational centre to get a full list of their classes to try out, you may just find your new favorite activity.

4. Get Outside

Our brains and minds need fresh air in order to fully function, duh. This might seem like an obvious idea, but a lot of people spend their entire day and week inside of a school or office and they never get a chance to really breathe. Instead of staying inside even more than you have to for your work out, try getting outside and explore nature. Go for a hike, a walk around the park or even swimming if you live somewhere near a beach! By getting outside and taking a break from screens you will let your body relax so that you can start to feel and look better.

5. Work Out Buddy

Who’s says that working out needs to be a solo activity. Unlike joining a fitness class or a sports team getting a work out buddy is a great way to keep yourself motivated. A work out buddy works differently from your teammates because it is just the two of you. If you find yourself a good work out buddy, who shares similar fitness goals, then you two can text each other motivational quotes all day, meal plan together and spot each other at the gym. You’ll get to be there for the high points and the low points cheering each other on.

Summer is over, but that doesn’t mean you should stop working out and trying to achieve your ideal body. Getting in shape and looking great doesn’t have to be hard. You can break a sweat, lose weight and get in terrific shape all with a big smile on your face. Don’t stress yourself or your body out about getting in shape, have fun and enjoy yourself a little bit.
