10 Unusual Desserts You Need To Try This Fall

Dessert is the best part of a meal but it is easy to become bored of eating the same food all the time. Here are ten unusual desserts you need to try this fall if you want to give your sweet tooth a treat!

1. Gingerbread Tree

It may be a little early for gingerbread houses, but a gingerbread tree is perfect for fall! To create this work of art, you will need to make at least ten gingerbread stars, each one slightly smaller than the next. Pile them on top of each other and stick them together with icing. This spicy dessert well impress everyone at your next dinner party.

2. Chocolate Spring Rolls

You’ve probably heard of chocolate cannolis, but what about chocolate spring rolls? This sweet and savoury Chinese inspired dish makes a great dessert or a handy snack! You’ll need dark chocolate, almonds, spring roll rappers, and vanilla ice cream. These treats do require deep frying, so make sure you know what you are doing to avoid injuring yourself.

3. Chocolate Pasta

This fun dessert will make you feel as though you are being a lot healthier than you really are. It involves turning chocolate into tagliatelle. You will need flour, cocoa powder, caster sugar, and eggs to create the dough. Once you’ve cut the dough into strips, you boil it for a few minutes just as you would pasta.  Serve it up topped with some berries and cream!

4. Deep Fried Chocolate Bars

The infamous Scottish delicacy that really does exist. Sometimes you just want a dessert that is sweet, salty, and full of calories. If that sounds familiar, then this is the dessert for you. These treats were once a myth, but you can now buy them at certain independent cafes around Scotland – so keep an eye out on your travels! Otherwise, it really is as simple as deep frying your favourite chocolate bar.

5. Crepe Cake

What could be better than crepes for dessert? Fifteen layers of crepes fashioned into a cake! This recipe is fairly easy to recreate, especially if you are used to making crepes. All you need is a standard crepe mix and a lot of cream or frosting to sandwich them together with. Coat the outside with frosting and you’ll have a cake! You could even go one better and colour the crepes to make a rainbow cake.

6. Roasted Pears

Roasted pears are a lighter and healthier option than the other desserts on this list. There are plenty of flavours you can create such as cinnamon roasted, honey roasted, and butter roasted. The recipe is relatively simple but it does take a while, so don’t expect this to be a quick fix when you feel your sweet tooth tingling. If you have the time, though, this is a delicious unusual dessert!

7. Tres Leches Cake

At its core, Tres Leches cake is a sponge cake. What makes it an unusual dessert is that the cake is soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream. Definitely not for anyone with lactose intolerance. The cake is very light and filled with air bubbles which prevent it from becoming soggy in the milk. It is a sweet, dense cake which is perfect for after a meal.

Just be careful not too add too much lavender – it can be very strong!

9. Skillet Cookie

The only thing better than a cookie is a cookie the size of a frying pan. As the name suggests, this unusual dessert is created in a skillet. The recipe is as easy to create as any other cookie recipe, and actually does not require the large quantities you might imagine! Once your cookie has baked, you can eat it in slices like a big chocolate chip pizza.

10. Chocolate and Cheese Pancakes

In Indonesia, these stuffed pancakes known as martabak and are a popular street food. Mixing chocolate and cheese is certainly not typical in this country, but this unusual dessert tastes a lot better than you would think.
