Before storing your clothes, it is important to make sure that everything is cleaned and in excellent condition so when winter comes back around you aren’t dealing with dirty, musty clothing. Once everything has been properly clean you can start the storage process, so here are several hacks for your off-season clothing to help you get started.<\/p>\n

Know What To Hang<\/h2>\n

The first of our storage hacks is to know what to hang – and what not to hang. Certain items of clothing will lose their shape over time: this includes knits, synthetics and silks. These items should be folded for storage so they stay in the best condition that they can.<\/p>\n

Coats and pants are the best items to hang and you should make sure you use wooden or padded hangers – avoid wire ones as they offer very little support.<\/p>\n

Possibly the most important of our storage hacks is to prepare for moths and dampness. To avoid moths getting into your clothes add lavender sachets and natural moth balls to your storage containers. It is important to get natural moth balls as regular ones are toxic to humans and pets.<\/p>\n

To avoid moisture, make sure you pick where you store them appropriately (avoid storing them outdoors or in a basement or attic). Also, add silica gel packets in your storage so you can ensure that any moisture will be absorbed.<\/p>\n

The next of our off-season clothing storage hacks is for the clothing that you will be hanging. Space saving hangers often hook over hangers or allow multiple items of clothing to be hung on the one hanger to make the most out of the space that you have available.<\/p>\n

Another of our storage hacks that helps add extra storage space is to use the wasted space underneath your bed. You can do this by buying draws to go underneath your bed, or other baskets and boxes that can be easily slid under the bed. The allows you to use empty space that otherwise wouldn’t be used.<\/p>\n

Another important storage hack is to separate different fabrics. The first step is to make sure all garments are separated with tissue paper or dryer sheets so it can breathe. Different fabrics will need to be stored differently, so it is important to separate them.<\/p>\n
