Those who love travelling are always on the lookout for\u00a0new and exciting places to visit. So from a traveller to all of you out there, here is my personal ranking of the twenty countries (and more) that I have set foot on.<\/p>\n
Last summer I visited Denmark for the first time. A friend and I decided to do the EUrail and visit a couple of cities across Europe, and Copenhagen was one of them. Known for its… and its… Copenhagen and Denmark mark a wonderful place to visit.<\/p>\n

So here is a little confession, Malta holds a very special place in my heart. It\u2019s the country where my mum is from and where I was born, so it\u2019s no surprise that it\u2019s in the top three of this list. Speaking from a touristy point of view, however, Malta is incredibly underrated: with its good food, beautiful clean beaches and not overly expensive hotels, this has become a must go summer destination.<\/p>\n
Another stop on my EUrail was Amsterdam. People tend to relate Amsterdam to the legality of drugs and prostitution, but it definitely has more to offer than that. Amsterdam is a place of culture, filled with some of the most amazing museums. The city itself is an architectural paradise, the houses, the parks and especially the canals make it an extremely Instagrammable place.<\/p>\n
Ready for my second confession? Well, I have lived in Italy for most of my life, up until I decided to leave for University and go to a different country. So obviously Italy also holds another piece of my heart, and for valid reasons too. Italy is one of the most architecturally and artistically diverse places, the food and the wine have no rivalry, and the landmarks are some of the most impressive in the world.<\/p>\n
As one of the few links between Asia and Europe, Turkey has one of the vastest cultures in the world. I have had the pleasure to visit this country more than once and I can safely say\u00a0that the beaches, cuisine and the city of Istanbul are absolutely wonderful. The city of Istanbul on its own is a sight everyone should see at least once in their lives, for its enormous bazaar and lovely restaurants.<\/p>\n

Castles, cathedrals, little villages, big cities, tranquil landscapes and history galore mark Great Britain. Many think of the UK as just its capital city, London, but it’s so much more. It’s a place of eccentricity, with its funny food names, a multitude of accents, and friendly pubs: there is always something to do to have a good time.<\/p>\n
Known as the “most romantic country in the world”, France keeps on seducing travellers with its cute little cafes and bistros, the postcard\u00a0landmarks everyone wishes to see with their own eyes and the fancy tiny\u00a0boutiques. France is on everybody’s bucket list, and last year I had the chance to visit the beautiful capital for the first time (technically it was the second time, but the first time was more of a trip to Disneyland and I was six, so we shall not count it).<\/p>\n
If you are\u00a0a Game of Thrones fan, Croatia is the place for you. The setting of some of the most iconic scenes of the famous tv series, Croatia’s beautiful coastline, all the fortified cities and the people’s hospitality make this country\u00a0the perfect\u00a0place to visit.<\/p>\n
Montenegro\u2019s landscapes alone bring this tiny country into the top 10 of my list. Here the mountains and the sea embrace in the most wonderful of sceneries. Ancient little towns cover the coastline, clinging to the rocks but still right by the sea. I travelled to this little paradise while on a cruise and the entrance into Montenegro was one of the most breath-taking things ever.<\/p>\n
Slovenia is one of the most underestimated countries I have ever visited. Charmingly rustic, this country is a mix of cultures, with mountains, blue rivers and a coastline that reminds me of Venice.<\/p>\n

I have had a bit of a contrasting opinion when it comes to Spain. I went to Barcelona about three years ago with some friends and found it very touristy, the shops, the hotel we stayed at and even the restaurants were all touristy. However, this year I went to Madrid for the first time and absolutely loved it. The food is amazing, it is full of culture and there seem to be more Spanish people than the overabundance of tourists.<\/p>\n
Friendly people, spicy food and increasingly beaches are what awaits you in Mexico. Filled with history and unique culture, Mexico is ready to set your heart (and palate) on fire.<\/p>\n
When you think of history, the first place that should come to mind is Greece. Home to the Olympic Games, the monasteries and temples dedicated to the gods and the perfectly symmetric marble\u00a0statues. If you are\u00a0not interested\u00a0in the ancient ruins, then you must visit one of the hundreds of islands that form this amazing country.\u00a0The white beaches, cheap\u00a0resorts and amazing food should be enough to entertain\u00a0anyone.<\/p>\n
Germany was the final destination of my EUrail holiday. Germany’s landscapes, with its romantic river valleys and moody forests, culture, big cities, art, romantic castles and palaces and cute little towns ensure that everyone can find something up their street to enjoy this incredible country.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve been to the United States of America twice now, and this is another country I have contrasting opinions about. The US mark such a large country that it made it extremely diversified. This means that there are places, like Boston, Washington DC, Las Vegas and Philadelphia that I found interesting and really fun to visit. However, some other places, like New York City, Los Angeles, Cape Cod and San Diego less amazing, I felt they had been too hipped up. I have to admit these places are pretty nice too, but I felt that the others had more to offer.<\/p>\n

Since the fall of communism, the Czech Republic and its beautiful capital, Prague, have become one of the most sought after destination in Europe. Everyone who goes to the country\u00a0stops at\u00a0the capital, with\u00a0its Gothic architecture, famous landmarks and newly emerging food scene. This place is just beautiful.<\/p>\n
As a gateway to Africa, Morocco is a country of diversity, with its deserts, colourful cities, mountains and cultural background. This country is incredibly welcoming, with its fantastic little hotels, the food and spices markets and the desertic tours you can take.<\/p>\n
If you are looking for a luxurious weekend away, Monaco is the place to be. Known as the second smallest country in the world, Monaco\u2019s uniqueness lies with its state of the art casinos and glamourous beachside hotels.<\/p>\n
One of the best countries to visit in the winter time is Switzerland. Known for its incredible facilities and resorts, it marks the perfect spot to practice some skiing or snowboarding, while enjoying good food and spa treatments.<\/p>\n

Known as the smallest country in the world, Vatican City is like nothing else you have ever seen. This country fits entirely inside the capital city of Italy, Rome, and is the centre of the Catholic Church. Funnily enough, even though it\u2019s the smallest country in the world, it houses the biggest church in the world, St. Peter\u2019s Basilica.<\/p>\n
Surrounded completely by Italy, San Marino is the fifth smallest country in the world. It\u2019s a tiny land filled with beautiful clifftop castles and towers, making it a unique place to visit.<\/p>\n
