Romanticised in films, talked about by friends, you just can&#8217;t wait. \u00a0But, is it really like that?<\/p>\n<h2>1. The Build-Up And Expectations<\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s time. \u00a0Years of your older, more experienced friends who lost their virginity\u00a0<em>ages<\/em>\u00a0giving you tips, watching porn and masturbation have led up to this point. \u00a0Finally, you have found someone willing to get this close to you. \u00a0The movies have primed you for this: you&#8217;ll collapse onto the bed and roll around while your hair\u00a0<em>definitely\u00a0<\/em>won&#8217;t get in the way when you try to kiss. \u00a0You won&#8217;t worry about any form of contraception and when you finally get to the moment when you lose your virginity it will feel so good that you can both go for hours. \u00a0Oh, and you&#8217;re 100% going to climax at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Wrong. \u00a0So wrong. \u00a0When you lose your virginity you will almost certainly have a less than idealistic experience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<h2>2. Getting Down To It<\/h2>\n<p>More likely you&#8217;re drunk at a party or with your first boyfriend and you&#8217;ve decided to do the deed. \u00a0You&#8217;ll be shaking, as will your partner. \u00a0And now is when your mind decides to run the equivalent of several marathons. \u00a0So you begin by trying to calm down, after all, whatever happens, you are in this together. \u00a0You foreplay for as long as you possibly can because you&#8217;re so nervous, wondering if this is okay or not. \u00a0Then the time to put a condom on occurs and you think: &#8220;I haven&#8217;t done this since with a banana in high school during health class&#8221; and you begin to wonder if your boy knows how to do it.<\/p>\n<p>Phew, it&#8217;s on. \u00a0Also, do I look good right now? \u00a0I mean, I&#8217;ve never looked at myself while lying naked on my bed before. \u00a0Who cares, we&#8217;re here now, right?<\/p>\n<h2>3. Penetration<\/h2>\n<p>Right. \u00a0This is it. \u00a0Go time. \u00a0The moment when you\u00a0<em>finally\u00a0<\/em>understand the hype. \u00a0It slips in, probably not feeling that comfortable at all, and then the awkward thrusting begins, and you think: &#8220;<em>This?!\u00a0<\/em>This is what everyone does in their spare time. \u00a0It kinda hurts, kinda burns and is definitely not a state of enjoyment.\u00a0Wait, people <em>pay<\/em> for this?\u00a0 Am I doing something wrong? Is that why it hurts?\u201d Then you just lie there and think: \u201cmaybe sex isn\u2019t for me after all.\u201d\u00a0 You internally breathe a sigh of relief when one of you gets the guts to say: \u201clet\u2019s stop and cuddle\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Cuddling you can do, especially if you\u2019re the little spoon.<\/p>\n<h2>4. The Aftermath<\/h2>\n<p>Whoo.\u00a0 Almost certainly neither of you came or climaxed and you\u2019re now cuddling wondering if that was good for him.\u00a0 Then, you realise that you can now join in with those conversations that your friends keep having about their various sexual experiences now that you, too, have lost your virginity.\u00a0You feel a little bit like a badass, a little bit pained and you\u2019re also not sure if that blood you\u2019re seeing is because you just came on your period (great) or because your Heiman just broke.<\/p>\n<p>I mean, you\u2019re also definitely thinking: \u201cwhat even is a Heiman?
