If the Madrid coat of arms (composed of a bear and a strawberry tree) were to incorporate another element, this should be a person holding a squid sandwich while grabbing a beer on the other hand.<\/p>\n

In “La Campana”, they have been preparing squid sandwiches since 1870. They must be doing something right! For just under 5 quids you can enjoy a “bocadillo de calamares” along with a large beer. Not bad at all to be all over downtown Madrid, right?<\/p>\n

You can\u00b4t take the return flight without having made your mandatory stop at this establishment that opened in 1894.<\/p>\n

The chain is in the process of expansion and has come to open stores in Tokyo, Shangai and Bogota. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just for over 3 pounds, you can enjoy this delicious pleasure. A real MUST!<\/p>\n

We completely changed the restaurant type! At DiverXo we enter the acclaimed fusion cuisine. His chef, Dabiz Mu\u00f1oz, has been named the third best chef in the world<\/a> recently and a visit to his restaurant shows why.<\/p>\n

Mu\u00f1oz is famous for his avant-garde dishes and limitless cuisine so you can expect a different price from those mentioned above, but it is worth it. 2 menus to choose from. 195 euros the basic or 250 the “menu glot\u00f3n”.<\/p>\n

DiverXo’s biggest rival for the throne of Madrid’s best restaurant. While Sanceloni’s contemporary restaurants have been disappearing or falling into oblivion, our protagonist remains on the ball year after year. Its cuisine always bordering on perfection and combining tradition with avant-garde will make the 185 euros that the menu costs one of the best investments you make in a long long time.<\/p>\n

Don’t forget to try his out of this world selection of cheeses! I (strongly) doubt there is a similar one anywhere else in the world.<\/p>\n

We are back to prices within mortal reach! Alberto Chicote, the Spanish version of Gordon Ramsey and his Hell’s Kitchen, brings a fusion between Japanese cuisine and Spanish flavors with yakitoros as the star of the menu. A yakitori is a typical Japanese skewer that is brilliantly prepared by Chicote’s team in a wide ways variety.<\/p>\n

One of the best food places in Madrid value for money. For about 20 pounds you will enjoy a menu designed by one of the best Spanish chefs.<\/p>\n

Homemade burger accompanied by crunchy hand cut fries. That’s the recipe for their success as well as a remarkable price that doesn’t go over 15 pounds.<\/p>\n

Don’t miss the “Kevin Bacon”! Their signature burger and very likely, the best burger you’ll bring to your mouth in years.<\/p>\n

7. Takos al Pastor<\/h2>\n

In a place as cosmopolitan as Madrid, Mexican food could not be missing. The spell of this place? Tacos for 1 euro! The reason why there is always a queue of at least 20 minutes? The taste of these tacos.<\/p>\n

When TripAdvisor situates “<\/a>Takos al Pastor” as the best ‘quick bites’ place in the city is full of meaning. National product and 100% natural are\u00a0the ingredients of their hit.<\/p>\n

Don’t let the queue scare you, the wait will be worth it. And remember, get 2 or 3 Tacos “suadero”. You will appreciate this advice once you take the first bite.<\/p>\n

8. Casa Lucio<\/h2>\n

What’s more Spanish than a fried egg with fried potatoes? At Casa Lucio, they can boast say that they have been triumphing for more than 40 years in “La Latina”, a famous Madrilenian neighborhood. As well as remark their star ingredient, the fried egg. Whether with fried potatoes as previously mentioned or with ham in a dish called “huevos rotos con jam\u00f3n”, or with pisto\u00a0(similar to the well-known ratatouille), Lucio’s fried eggs are notorious throughout Madrid.<\/p>\n

Moreover, they prepare one of the best “cocido madrile\u00f1o” in the area. This is a stew made with a soup base and meat, chickpeas and cabbage as main ingredients.<\/p>\n

It’s not the cheapest on the list but if you’re lucky enough, you’ll share your time with one of the many celebrities who come to Casa Lucio to eat.<\/p>\n

9. El Capricho Extreme\u00f1o<\/h2>\n

A very curious food place in Madrid. It only opens on Sunday and becomes a must for anyone spending his money at the famous Madrilean\u00a0street market, “El Rastro”.<\/p>\n

Its menu is very simple, a wide variety of toasts with quality products from Extremadura (a Spanish region) and very affordable prices. The toasts of ham, “gulas” or octopus are the place hits and none of them go over 3.50 euros.<\/p>\n

Also, incredibly refreshing “gazpacho” sold during the summer months for 1.50 euros.<\/p>\n

10. La Barca<\/h2>\n

We travel to Velilla de San Antonio, a town on the outskirts of Madrid that worths a visit to try “La Barca” cuisine. Varied menu and much higher quality than the marked by the price.<\/p>\n

The lean meat with tomato and the “huevos rotos con jam\u00f3n” are superior but the Carabineros rice would turn a corpse back to life.<\/p>\n
