While London is a place that a lot<\/em> of people call home, it is also a place that can be considered strange by many. This is why we\u2019ve decided to ask around and gather the 15 most bizarre things about London no one understands!<\/p>\n

\n<\/h6>\n

Why we Queue for everything.<\/h2>\n

Many people comment on the reason why there is always a queue in London and I\u2019m here to tell you, I have no idea why. It is actually a lot more surprising to go into a store and NOT have to queue, which is extremely unfortunate.<\/p>\n

Why there is a pet\u00a0in the middle of Hyde Park.<\/h2>\n

Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in London and is one of the four Royal Parks that form a chain across central London. It also has a pet cemetery in the middle which you have to pay to go see. A lot of Londoners don\u2019t really understand this themselves.<\/p>\n

Why some of the trains are driven by ghosts.<\/h2>\n

Some of our tubes are partially automated using Automatic Train Operations, while these trains still need people to open and close doors and to assist in cases of emergency, it also means that no one is actually driving the train, except a computer.<\/p>\n

Why not a lot of us take cars.<\/h2>\n

While a lot of people do drive in London, many simply take the tube when they need to be somewhere because traffic is unpredictable. In comparison to places outside of London and the UK, driving a car isn\u2019t really that important.<\/p>\n

Why there are foxes everywhere<\/h2>\n

While this one might be a slight exaggeration, London tends to have a higher number of foxes than other places. Don\u2019t be surprised if you see one pop out of a bush on your way home from work. This is one of those things that we\u2019ve all just gotten used to.<\/p>\n

Why there are pigeons everywhere.<\/h2>\n

Now this one is definitely not an exaggeration. While London pigeons are braver than other pigeons, bigger than other pigeons (no joke) and probably more dangerous too, they also tend to travel in packs, especially when there\u2019s food involved.<\/p>\n

Why there are shopping centres everywhere.<\/h2>\n

This one isn\u2019t particularly a bad thing but the number of shopping centres in London can be considered strange. Ran out of lash glue? Why don\u2019t you pop out to the gigantic<\/em> shopping centre five minutes away from your house?<\/p>\n

Where there are different accents everywhere.<\/h2>\n

Some people tend to assume that there is only one accent in the whole of London, that being the Queens English. The thing is that couldn\u2019t be further from the truth; the varying accents in the city are bizarre considering it\u2019s only ONE city.<\/p>\n

Why there are rats in the underground.<\/h2>\n

I\u2019m pretty sure everyone in London has been immunised to the rats that scurry around London\u2019s underground tube stations because of how common it is to see them. This is one of those bizarre things about London, you have no idea how to explain.<\/p>\n

Why the weather is so Bi-polar.<\/h2>\n

This one is something we have all learned to accept, there really isn\u2019t anything about London\u2019s weather. It can go from flat out rain to sunshine in 2 seconds.<\/p>\n

Why you can never trust your journey.<\/h2>\n

Please don\u2019t trust your journey if you live in London, for your own sake, anything can happen. The bus can terminate, tube strikes, diversion, bus changing drivers, traffic!<\/p>\n

Why there is Tiny Police Station in Trafalgar Square.<\/h2>\n

In the south-east corner of Trafalgar Square, you\u2019ll find the smallest police station in the whole of Britain. It is a tiny box which can apparently hold up to two prisoners at a time and the main purpose was to hold one police officer at a time. Weird, I know.<\/p>\n

Why the tubes are so loud.<\/h2>\n

If you pay attention the next time you ride the London Tubes you\u2019ll find that there is a loud, unsettling sound that it makes and that everyone else has learnt to pretend it\u2019s not there.<\/p>\n

Why no one actually waits for the traffic light.<\/h2>\n

Maybe it\u2019s because of our distrust of the London roads but when there\u2019s an opening to cross the roads, we have to take it.<\/p>\n

Why we hate communicating.<\/h2>\n

Maybe it\u2019s something about living in the city but no one really talks to strangers in public or rather likes to pretend they don\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n
