This is one of the true\u00a0signs you grew up in Germany.<\/p>\n<h2>Additionally to potatoes, we love meat<\/h2>\n<p>You know you\u2019re German when no meat in the world is as good as the meat at home. Ah good old German Bratwurst.<\/p>\n<h2>You\u2019re obsessed with football<\/h2>\n<p>\u2026 even though you don\u2019t actually know anything about football. Oktoberfest is like Christmas for Germans, and we love it so much every town now has its own local version of a beer festival. This is one of the most famous\u00a0signs you grew up in Germany.<\/p>\n<h2>And since we\u2019re already at traditional festivals, nearly everyone owns a traditional outfit<\/h2>\n<p>\u2026 though that might just be in Bavaria, I\u2019m not too sure. But the traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen have gained so much fame that Germans seem to be associated with it internationally.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center\">\n<\/h6>\n<h2>People constantly tell you that German is such a harsh language<\/h2>\n<p>Honestly, I can\u2019t hear it?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>And how long our words are Rindfleischetikettierungs\u00fcberwachungsaufgaben\u00fcbertragungsgesetz\u2026 ha ha you read right, that\u2019s ONE word and it basically translates to a law regulating the testing of beef. I don\u2019t know either\u2026<\/h2>\n<h2>The second you move somewhere else, the first thing you miss is\u2026 Bread<\/h2>\n<p>Sorry mum, but German bread is something else. Buns, pretzels, pastries, etc\u2026 and bakeries round every corner\u2026 heaven.<\/p>\n<h2>You\u2019re allowed to drink alcohol and go clubbing at 16<\/h2>\n<p>Whenever I tell people that we\u2019re allowed to legally drink at 16, people never really believe me or are shocked. We\u2019re not allowed to buy any alcohol though, only beer and wine\u2026 which is still enough.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center\">\n<\/h6>\n<h2>St. Nikolaus<\/h2>\n<p>When I moved to England I was a bit confused that no one seemed to celebrate Nikolaus on the 6th of December. On the 5th of December, every German child puts an empty shoe, a glass of milk and cookies out for the Nikolaus and if the child has been good, the shoe will be filled with treats and little presents. However, there\u2019s also a myth of a Krampus, who travels with the Nikolaus and puts naughty children in his sack\u2026<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Germans don\u2019t have Santa\u2026they have the \u2018Christkind\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>You know you\u2019re German, when on the evening of the 24th you\u2019re waiting for the Christkind (Baby Jesus) to come and bring you presents.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center\">\n<\/h6>\n<h2>It\u2019s weird that people celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December<\/h2>\n<p>\u2026when it\u2019s clearly the 24th.. duh, that\u2019s when Jesus was born!<\/p>\n<p>Winter wonderland is definitely not the same as a real German Christmas Market<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s so overpriced&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myheimat.de\/augsburg\/kultur\/augsburger-weihnachtsmarkt-d199138.html\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Beer<\/h2>\n<p>Just the same as bread, no beer tasted as good as good old German beer.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0If you know how amazing German beer is, then you can relate to this as one of the\u00a0signs you grew up in Germany!<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"tenor-gif-embed\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tenor.com\/view\/beer-german-wtf-insane-gif-3867429\">27 Mugs Of Beer!
