During winter, my go-to makeup is a really dark brown smudged smokey eye, because it\u2019s dark. And cold. It does get a bit boring, though, but I feel like the winter months really call for this kind of makeup. The moment the weather gets warmer, then, I go straight for the bronzer and the red lipstick. The thing I noticed with this season\u2019s makeup looks was their simplicity: a lot of them were very natural, opting for bare skin with a light concealer, brushed-through brows and little to no mascara. This natural skin was then paired with a statement \u2013 such as a bold lip or glitter, a lot of which was worn in, too. This, of course, is fantastic for doing makeup in the rush and in the heat: smudged makeup will not only look intentional but stylish and modern, too! These are our favourite simple summer makeup looks for you to wear this summer!<\/p>\n

1. Smudged red lips<\/h2>\n

This year\u2019s updated red lips are smudged out \u2013 almost as if you\u2019ve been snogging. Of course, this isn\u2019t the most wearable look, so for an everyday take just faintly blend out the edges of the lipstick, and pair with an otherwise bare face. The shade of red is up to you to decide, but bright orange-toned red works great with a tan.<\/p>\n

2. Coloured eyeshadow (purple)<\/h2>\n

A\u00a0brightly coloured\u00a0eye is a simple statement look, and great for summer. This year we\u2019re seeing a lot of bright colours (blues, purples, yellows, reds). Using a single shade (matte or metallic) makes the look more modern.<\/p>\n

3. Glossy hued lids<\/h2>\n

Achieve this look with a sweep of lipstick in a brown\/peach tone \u2013 it gives a more natural look, and has a lovely, glossy finish! Use the lipstick as a blush and on your lips, too, for a monochromatic look. The fact that you\u2019re only using one product makes this look super simple, too.<\/p>\n

Bronze Glow<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s not a summer makeup list without bronzer. This year, we\u2019re going for an outdoorsy, bronzed glow. Use a matte russet bronzer for a really modern look.<\/p>\n

5. Glossy face<\/h2>\n

This one is great for summer because the entire point of it is to look \u2018sweaty\u2019. Use a liquid highlighter for a natural, glowy, wet look! Add gloss to your lids, too \u2013 this really ties the look together.<\/p>\n

6. Graphic cat eye<\/h2>\n

This one is surprisingly easy to do \u2013 we\u2019re seeing a lot of big graphic liner at the moment, so you\u2019re allowed to embrace the panda eye! Seen here at Marc Jacobs:<\/p>\n

7. Glitter<\/h2>\n

Glitter\u2019s not going anywhere this season: use sparingly for an easy statement look \u2013 across the lids, or in the inner or outer corners of the eyes, works well.\u00a0The looks a really simple way to get a fun look great for parties and festivals! Seen here at Topshop:<\/p>\n

8. Lived-in liner<\/h2>\n

With this, look, the smudgier the better. This liner should look really smudgy, imperfect, and lived-in: like you woke up with it, basically (bonus points if you actually slept in it, although I don\u2019t recommend not taking your makeup off at the end of a night). Take a brown or black kohl, and work it into your top and bottom lashlines (the easiest way to do this is to close your eyes and do both top and bottom simultaneously). Then smudge or pat it into the skin! This is one of the most simple summer makeup looks!<\/p>\n
