Summer is coming and our schedules clear up – well for some of us. What better time to do something new! Here are 5 cool hobbies to try out when you’re bored. We all have those times when we just want to do something but nothing seems interesting. I hope you like these new hobbies!<\/p>\n
Calligraphy is so therapeutic. All you need to do is practice, practice, practice!! Your hand after a while will have learned the movement of each letter and will glide along the page creating beautiful sentences. You just need to purchase the requiring tools and ink.<\/p>\n
You can learn a new language! What better way to exercise your brain! You can start with easy phrases like ‘Hello’, ‘Thank you’ and ‘I’m sorry’. Once you get into it and excited, you can purchase your first workbook. For example, I’m trying to learn Korean on my own. I started slowly to see whether I like the language and whether I would like to continue with it. Now, I’m going through my first workbook! So, my advice is to start slowly before you start buying books.<\/p>\n
Painting, drawing or even colouring a book can all be cool hobbies. They are also linked to distress and relaxation. For painting and drawing, you can attend a class to see if you like it. You can learn some great tips as well! From then, you either continue on your own or with the class. If you’re still skeptical, you can purchase a colouring book! They are fun and you put all your creativity into a design drawn for you.<\/p>\n
I look at knitting as if it’s meditation. They have so many similarities! You have to put all your concentration into knitting correct loops and you just forget about the world. To me, knitting is like meditation, as I focus on myself and I tend to relax. Besides, once you get the hang of it, you can create some really cute stuff you can use, like a hat or a scarf!<\/p>\n
You can find good podcasts both on Spotify and iTunes. I personally prefer iTunes because the variety of podcasts there is much wider than Spotify. I like to listen to self-improvement podcasts such as ‘Why 30 is not the new 20’ or criminal podcasts such as ‘Unsolved Murders: True Crime Stories’ for a little spookiness. You can find so many podcasts to listen to! They are really educational and you learn about things you wouldn’t have looked for information about. Also, you can listen to podcasts anywhere; on your way to work, before bed, while doing something that requires limited concentration.<\/p>\n
