If you’re a girl who prefers the feel and look of being clean-shaven, you will know all too well the horrific pain of a shaving rash. Those tiny red bumps and seemingly endless bleeding when you jump out of the shower are the<\/em> worst thing about shaving and are almost enough to make us quit altogether. But we always go back, so here are some handy hints to avoid hellish bumps after shaving.<\/p>\n

1. Exfoliate<\/h2>\n

Find a gentle exfoliating wash and\/or a loofah to rub around the area you plan on removing hair. It’ll soften the hair and the skin, making it much easier to shave.<\/p>\n

\n<\/h6>\n

2. Steam Soften<\/h2>\n

Once you get in the shower, shampoo and condition first before moving on to the task at hand. The steam will help out with softening and relaxing the area.<\/p>\n

3. Use a mens razor<\/h2>\n

Men shave too, and lucky for us, they get extra gentle razors for their faces. Swap out your sensitive shavers for a four-bladed man’s one.<\/p>\n

4. Use a mens shaving gel<\/h2>\n

Like the razor, men’s\u00a0products are intended for the face, and so are super sensitive. Try to give a gel or foam a try to help\u00a0you when shaving.<\/p>\n

5. Apply deodorant<\/h2>\n

Yep, sounds weird and not at all like something you would even think about doing, but it works. After you’re all hair-free and dry, wack on deodorant (an unscented stick). It stops chafing and therefore pesky bumps.<\/p>\n

6. Trim first<\/h2>\n

If you’ve left it a really<\/em> long time (3 days is the best shout) between shaves, its recommended that you cut down the hairs first. More hair= duller razor, and dull razor= burning and irritation.<\/p>\n

7. Wear Soft Pants<\/h2>\n

Stay away from tight clothing and stick to cotton underwear on the day that you shave to\u00a0prevent\u00a0chafing. Hey, is this an excuse for wearing joggers to work?<\/p>\n

8. Short Strokes<\/h2>\n

Taking shorter strokes mean you will be lighter on your skin, which is way better for any sensitive areas, plus, lengthy\u00a0strokes mean picking up more hair- another risk for a dull blade.<\/p>\n
