Do you want your skin to feel rejuvenated and refreshed? Well, here are five ways to hydrate your skin that will make you feel like a whole new person.

Do you want your skin to feel rejuvenated and refreshed? Well, here are five ways to hydrate your skin that will make you feel like a whole new person.

Drink plenty of water!

“Yeah… yeah, heard it all before!” – which I’m sure 90% of you reading this are thinking. Though as clichéd and repeated this idea is, it works wonders! Drinking approx. 2- 3 litres of water a day helps flush the toxins and completely detoxes your body and blood. This effect then replicating within your skin and giving you a radiated and rejuvenated feel.

Yes- you won’t see the effect the next day, like all good things; this also takes time!

Speaking from personal experience, when my skin feels dull and dry; it worsens to producing spots and zits– It’s like getting a message from your body that it needs water and you need a cleanse.

Drinking enough water is not only beneficial to the skin, but it is scientifically proven to maintain blood pressure, body temperature and improving your mood – so hey, why not give it a go?

If you’re that person that genuinely forgets to drink water *raises hand*, there are several apps helping you and notifying you with the correct time and the amount of water to drink during the day.

Add More Omega 3 In Your Diet

Improving your diet is also a key in contributing to hydrating your skin, as much as I’d love to eat instant noodles and have clear skin – it isn’t gonna happen. Fast foods and high sugar containing foods are the primary things needed to avoid if you want a hydrated, glowing skin.

(I mean have you realised how crap your skin goes in Christmas? I’m a full time elf and I can’t restrict myself…pshh)

Getting to my point, one of the vitamins that highly contribute to clear and radiant skin  – is the addition or increase in intake of Omega 3. (Sushi does not count, as much as we want it to :/)

Omega 3 is a fatty acid which is ultra-beneficial for you, its acts against inflammation and prevents diseases such as psoriasis, acne and rosacea. All around the addition of Omega 3 intake is proven to improve heart and brain function, and increasing energy levels! Who doesn’t need that for exam season?

If you are a fish lover, Salmon is one of the healthiest options when it comes to Omega 3 and if you aren’t very keen on fish, then easily opt for the vitamin pills or for porridge and smoothie lovers – I LOVE the Bioglan Chia + Flax seeds combination and add it in almost everything. If you’re worried about a fishy taste or odour, then stop right there – cuz’ you can barely notice anything and it tastes delicious.

Do try the superfood mixture and let me know how it goes for you?

TEA TREE

Personally, for me, the tea tree oils and face wash was a skin rescuer for me! I don’t know if that makes sense… but let me elaborate. Tea tree is an ingredient which not only clears your skin, but also leaves your face glowing, it’s super moisture packed and in fact much recommended during winter when our face literally crumbles.

Jokes aside, I underwent a major skin transformation when I switched to both the tea tree face wash and moisturiser, the one I use is from the Superdrug range itself – and for me it’s worked wonders! However, another impressive range of tea tree products are from The Body Shop, of course the price ranges but investing in good skincare is always worth it!

The tea tree extract from green tea aids in healing skin problems such as acne, psoriasis and reddening, the oil products help sink in your skin and detox your skin cells; unblocks pores and cleanses the surface underneath the skin as well.

Sleep

Many a times the reason behind your skin breaking out and feeling dehydrated is due to the inconsistency of your sleeping pattern (this may have something to do with the constant BOP nights and FEZ outings) and if you disagree then denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. Aka, if you didn’t get that reference – I just outed you.

Slipping away from the stand- up comedy, we always hear that having 8 hours of sleep is essential, and usually we just ignore it – but it couldn’t be more true! Having the sufficient 8 hours of sleep retires your brain and gives you the capable time of switching of from the word and concentrate on winding down, but the complete relaxation that lies within sleeping helps remove the stress from your face which decreases the chance of you breaking out and leaves you with soft and supple skin when you wake.

Therefore, if you’ve tried the prior options and you are still left clue-less, then it’s probably sleep that is in between you and your clear skin.

Pamper Session

If all else fails, there is nothing wrong with carrying out a pamper session; this is the most relaxing way of treating your skin and a fun evening with your girlies, or flatmates.

With pamper sessions, masks are a must! Right now, I am loving the L’Oréal Pure Clay Masks; specifically, the red clay mask which specialises in brightening and giving you a radiant feel in your skin and an everlasting glow on your skin for the evening. It’s also useful as this time to try out some pore strips – my favourite brand for these is Biore, for instance the Biore deep cleansing strips!

Pamper sessions are not only great for treating your skin, their also very useful in reducing stress – for instance an evening with your girls, talking absolute rubbish whilst S CLUB 7 acts as the soundtrack for the evening. Having a stress-free session is not only beneficial to your skin but also to your mental health. – as it’s so important to give yourselves a break from the chaotic occupation of a university student!

Hope these tips work out for you, and have fun rejuvenating your skin! May the odds be ever in your favour!
