5 Signs A Guy Is Flirting With You

If you’re anything like me, you won’t have a clue how to tell if a guy is flirting with you. Maybe you’ve had your eye on someone for a while and you’re desperately searching for signs that your feelings are reciprocated, or perhaps you just want to know if your friend is suddenly acting differently with you. Either way, it’s always handy to be able to read a situation, so here are some signs that a guy is flirting with you!

1. He Maintains Eye Contact

Eye contact is a big one. I overheard two of my male friends talking about this, saying how they really like it when a girl can hold eye contact with them for a decent amount of time. Eye contact can become very intimate very quickly, and the best part is, it doesn’t require either of you to say anything! So if he’s scared of running his mouth off and saying something really weird which is going to send you elsewhere, he might opt for this more subtle way of showing his interest. We’ve all been there when someone’s held eye contact with you just that little bit too long – keep an eye out! (Sorry, I had to do it).

2. Body Language Cues

Some people really enjoy reading into body language. You could have your arms crossed and someone might accuse you of seeming closed off or defensive, or someone might take your constant fidgeting as a sign that you’re being anxious. Our body language is more important than we think, and when it comes to flirting, there’s a lot a guy can do to show you he’s interested. That time that boy ‘accidentally’ brushed your arm? Not an accident. Chances are the guy will lean in close to you, keep his feet faced towards you (please don’t just stare at his feet while you’re talking) or even tilt his head a little.

3. He Tries To Impress You

This is quite the no-brainer, but if a guy is flirting with you, it’s likely any sense of modesty is going to go out of the window. If he spends his time boasting about the fact that he’s been in the Olympics, or bigging up his ‘incredible apartment’, he’s probably after more than just one drink with you. There’s a high chance he may come across as arrogant by doing this, but just think – he’s trying to impress you. If anything, you should be flattered, because it’s a massive sign that he likes you.

4. He Tries To Make You Laugh

Some guys will be naturally funny, whilst others will have to put some effort in to crack the jokes. If you find that the guy you’re talking to starts bringing out his best ‘knock knock’ jokes or just tries to have a bit of banter with you, it’s likely that he’s trying to make you laugh. Maybe he just loves seeing your smile, but it could be that he’ll do anything to make you feel comfortable – even if it means sharing some of his most embarrassing anecdotes. It might be a good sign that he’s testing the waters, because many people like to date someone who shares the same sense of humour as themselves!

5. He Compliments You

This seems like the biggest sign that a guy is flirting, particularly if he compliments your appearance. Does he say you have the nicest eyes, comments on how lovely your smile is, calls you beautiful? If he says any of these to you, take it gracefully. It’s often the case that guys aren’t quick to give out compliments, so if he’s giving them to you it’s most likely that he does mean them. If he compliments you a lot in your conversation, he’s definitely trying to flirt with you. It’s certainly not tit for tat, but maybe you might want to compliment him back at some point to make him feel special.
