Having a crush on someone can be emotionally exhausting. For weeks, or even months, you’ve continued to pine after this one person, and the same question always runs through your head: “Does he like me back?” This one question is enough to drive you crazy. You start looking into the smallest signs and interactions, hoping there’s something more between the lines than just friendship. You start stressing about when and how you should approach or talk to him.
But all this time, there’s been one simple solution right under your nose – just ask him out! Asking a guy out first will make your life so much easier. There’s less stress, fewer expectations and no more wondering about whether or not he’s Mr Right.
Here are 10 reasons explaining why you should ask him our first!
1. You already feel close
If you’ve you’ve felt a connection or a spark in your conversations, then that’s a definitely good sign. If he’s equally invested in your chats it shows that he finds you interesting enough to talk to and spend time with. Keep on talking and getting to know each other, and when the time is right, ask him out.
2. You’ve been together in group settings
If you haven’t talked to each other one-to-one, then hopefully you’ve had some interactions in group settings and outings. Group setting work to your advantage because it’s a good way of gathering information without coming off as too forward. Does he have a girlfriend? What are his interests and hobbies? See what he’s passionate and how he acts around other people. If he’s a fun and considerate guy, go and ask him out already!
3. He seems to be interested
Does this even need explaining? If you have great late-night talks, make each other laugh and have a little flirtation going on here and there, then he’s probably not against the idea of dating you. This is one of the biggest signs that he’s into you, so take that leap of faith and ask him out while he’s interested in you.
4. It shows that you’re confident
Asking him out first will show that you’re confident and self-assured (or at least make it seem like you are). Men love confident women. It shows that you know what you want and aren’t afraid to take charge. And to be honest, being proactive and going after what you want, as a woman, is empowering and feels great.
Even if he doesn’t like you back, he’ll be darn impressed that you’re open about how you feel.
5. It’s 2019
New year, new me. That’s what everyone says right? Really make this year your own and take life into your own hands by living it to the fullest. Go ask him out. Go to your crush and ask him on a date. You might feel embarrassed and hesitant about making the first move, but it’ll be worth it. Don’t spend the year waiting around and letting your feelings bubble up. Go out there and take control of your life!
6. You’ll regret it if you don’t
If you keep waiting for them to ask you out, then there’s a good chance that nothing will ever happen. Both men and women can get nervous, and if neither of you makes a move, you’ll be left disappointed. If you wait too long he might just move on to someone else. Don’t let your chances slip away and become “what ifs?” because, at the end of the day, you’ll regret not asking him in the first place.
7. The ball’s in his court
Now that he knows how you feel about him, it’s up to him to decide the final outcome and respond. Your job is over and it saves you so much stress now that you no longer have to worry about expressing your feelings.
8. No more overanalysing
One thing that I hate most about catching feelings, is my tendency to overanalyse the smallest things, and I’m sure many people face this struggle too. During the crushing period, you start to worry about the smallest things. “What did he mean by that certain sentence?”, “Why is there a full stop at the end of his text?”, “Why didn’t he say “hi” to me? Did he not see me?” Just ask him out already and you no longer have to worry about the tiny details driving you crazy.
9. He’ll appreciate it
A lot of guys can be shy and feel intimidated when it comes to asking a girl out. They’re human too and the fear of rejection can get to anybody. If a guy genuinely likes you, then he’s probably been dropping hints, but he’s just too afraid to make the next move. If you ask him out first then you’ve made his life a lot easier and he’ll appreciate it big time.
10. You can move forward
Let’s face it, do you really want to spend a month, or maybe even more, hung up over someone? You’ll be sitting around, waiting for him to confess to you. Girl, you have better things to be doing. In that time you could have already been on your first date, or seeing someone new!
If your crush likes you back then you can both move forward with your relationship. If he just wants to be friends, then that’s perfectly fine too. It might hurt a little but it gives you more time to get back on your feet and jump back into the dating pool. If this guy wasn’t the one, then your perfect match is still out there somewhere – go out and find him!
