8 Power Suits For Lesbians

Pride is here again, and there’s nothing anyone can do to tell us to simmer down. This is the month about empowering LGBT+ people, and we’re here to supply y’all with some seriously empowering power suits.

You won’t find any black-on-black, basic BS here. It’s all about the weird, the wacky, the quirky and q*eer.

1. The Pink Suit

In ode to Regina George, on Wednesdays we wear a bright, pink pop of a power suit. Not only is this colour first on the OG pride flag, it’s just like, totally fetch.

The more oversized and androgynous, the better. This is a suit that’ll look ultra bright and cool on just about anyone, and the cord fabric is a casual edge to an eye-catching colour.

2. The Red Suit

Red is the colour of passion, of love – but also of anger and rebellion. And lest we forget the first Pride was a riot.

A solid red power suit will certainly give you a don’t F with me vibe. It’s bold and it’s unapologetic, and it’d look super cool with a pair of Docs. Better yet, red is a universally wicked colour on just about everyone.

3. The Orange Suit

Another bold colour – this is the softer, sillier sister of the red power suit. An orange suit is a wacky divergence from traditionally black, blue and white suits. And what is a lesbian (or anyone LGBT) if not a divergent from the traditionally ingrained gender roles and rules hegemonically imposed on us all?

This orange suit is sure to turn heads and stand out with it’s bright, fun colours! Plus the cropped blazer is super bizarre in all the best ways. Mix it with a bright undershirt for layers of colour.

4. The Yellow Suit

While you could go solid yellow in your power suit – who can deny themselves a little tartan print?

The wide sleeves and ring belt of this blazer and pants set have a generous flare to them, while the cool print keeps things very, very (stereotypically) gay. There’s also a little homage to Cher (from ‘Clueless’, if you didn’t catch that) in this style.

And hey, it’s still ultra cute and empowering to wear, so who cares if we play into the stereotypes so long as we look good doing it!

5. The Green Suit

Green – the colour of the earth, of tranquillity, of limes – yeah, that’s right. If we’re going green, we should take it all the way.

Forget turquoise and teal. The only green power suit you’ll catch us in is a horrendously unapologetic lime green! We’re here to make a statement, after all, not to look conventionally attractive for all consumable purposes!

Plus, those mom shorts in accompaniment are so ridiculously gay, we have to love them.

6. The Light Blue Suit

Anything from electric blue to a power blue does the job – just so long as it’s blue. Blue was such a pivotal part of the original Pride flag that it had two separate strips, it two separate shades.

Well, we think blue is totally toned down – especially compared to the others. So if you’re after something low-key and more gender neutral, an oversized blue power suit might be the style for you!

7. The Dark Blue Suit

Another tartan colour – this dark blue suit doesn’t look the least bit like a school uniform once it’s in power suit form.

A slim fitted pant and crisp blazer will have you ready to take on just about anything. Pair it with some chunky loafers for some androgynous, or some heels for that business bitch look. Either way, you’re gonna rock this suit.

8. The Purple Suit

Purple comes in many shades and all of them are ultra cool. Pale violet will play it safe, or a bold fuchsia will turn heads and eyes. Either way, you’ll be rockin’ a killer power suit.

Pair it with chunky sneakers, with some killer heels, or some laid-back loafers – or just throw on an oversized belt, and you’ll be good to go!
