10 Oldie But Goldie Films That You’ll Be Gutted You Haven’t Already Watched

If you’re anything like me, a person who likes to say they are a movie buff when actually I haven’t even seen ‘Rocky’ but has still seen some amazing older films that may not be on everyone’s movie bucket list then I’m sure you will very much appreciate this article today.

On the other hand, if you’re in need of a little educating in some films which haven’t been in the cinemas for centuries then you’ve also come to the right place. You’ll be gutted you haven’t already watched them but then you can thank me after you have.

1. Double Jeopardy (1999)

This film is for those who love a good Thriller and also maybe shedding a few tears. Double Jeopardy is based on a happy family that doesn’t exactly stay happy; one night mum and dad go out on a boat cruise but only mum returns. Libby, confused and heartbroken is then prosecuted for his murder… or should I say framed by the supposedly dead husband himself.

Enough of the spoilers now but just know, you will be rooting for Libby the entire time!

2. While You Were Sleeping (1995)

If you’re one for an easy watch, you will love While You Were Sleeping. It’s a nice little rom-com about a woman who’s ‘in love’ with a man she’s never spoken to until one day she finds herself saving his life from some thieves that still put him in a coma and as his family visit him in hospital they got the wrong idea about Lucy thinking she’s his partner.

Then, while he sleeps she finds herself falling for his brother… A very twisted but funny tale.

3. Point Break (1991)

This action packed drama will be a great one for the guys. We all know Keanu Reeves from the hit movie Speed but before that jaw-clenching movie there was another just as exciting film that Keanu starred in called Point Break. It surrounds the story of Johnny Utah, an FBI agent who needs to capture a gang of bank robbers… Little did he know they were underneath his nose the whole time. This is a must-watch.

4. Coyote Ugly (2000)

Want a love story? Want some good music? Want to see some sexy dancing? Yes, that’s right! Coyote Ugly is the one to watch if you want to be singing along as well as ‘trying’ to seductively dance along to the moves of the coyotes. Violet wants to become a singer songwriter but it isn’t as easy as she hoped so to get by she starts working at Coyote Ugly, a bar in New York. Although, as well as pouring pints she shakes her thang on the bar-top.

5. Sleeping With The Enemy (1991)

Although the acting could do with some TLC, this is a great thriller that’ll have you on the edge of your seat. The story line is in the name, a woman is married to a man who doesn’t treat her right so one day, she has enough of the bruises and escapes. However, sadistic people are quite intelligent, especially when they go hunting for someone that got away.

6. What Lies Beneath (2000)

If you’re a fan of the supernatural horrors this leery thriller is the one for you. Claire believes her home is haunted and nobody believes her; specifically her husband who may have a few dark secrets that answer to why there may be a terrorising ghost on Claire’s hands. The twist in this film will have you nail-bitingly shocked.

7. Animal Attraction (Someone Like You- 2001)

This is another great film starring Ashley Judd. Jane found the man of her dreams but after a few, short months he decides she isn’t the woman for him. Heartbroken and embarrassed, Jane decides to use all of the energy of hating him to figure out men by doing some research that ends up in her producing a magazine column. Fame and the right man is right around the corner for this unlucky in love lady.

8. Shallow Hal (2001)

This comedy is a must watch from the pure fact that Jack Black plays the main character; you already know it’s going to be a belter because of good old Jack. Hal is shallow until one day a self-help guru puts a spell on him which means he only sees a woman’s inner beauty. He then falls in love with a 300 pound woman… Do I really need to sell it any more?

9. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle (1992)

This is another chilling story of a widow who’s miscarriage leads her to take vengeance on a family she deems as perfect; she does this by becoming their babies nanny. This disturbing thriller will have you gobsmacked at her actions throughout.

10. Heartbreakers (2001)

A Mother and Daughter work together but not just at the local salon; they make their big bucks by conning rich men. Sigourney Weaver, the mother, dates a man, marries him and then the daughter steps in and makes it look like the husband is cheating so that mother dearest can divorce him for his assets. Now, Jennifer Love Hewitt, the daughter, wants to take matters into her own hands in her conning… But is she ready? This is such a clever and fun film that’ll have you giggling.
