This beautiful hybrid cat breed is a cross between a domestic cat and a serval, which is a type of African wild cat with a spotted coat. Originating in Northern Europe, this cat breed has got to be one of my personal favourites. I’m generally partial towards long-haired cats, but the Norwegian forest cats take it to a new level. They’ve got a super soft woolly undercoat, which makes them the perfect cuddle companions.

Also known as the sacred cat of Burma, the Birman is a beautiful long-haired cat with a luscious coat. They have deep blue eyes that contrast perfectly with their grey “socks” or “gloves” that are a very distinguishing part of their appearance. Their silky coat could easily rival that of the Norwegian cats, even though they come from a warm climate.

Don’t like cats? Not a problem – this unique cat breed is more like a dog than a cat in so many ways. These affectionate and companionable felines are one of largest domesticated breeds in existence. They’ve got a very unique, wild-like appearance and some incredible hunting skills.
