5 Indoor Plants That Can Change Your Living Room

A beautiful plant can literally improve the look of your room: plants have the power to confer coziness, color, brightness, and happiness also to a very standard space. Here, we specifically recommend you 5  indoor plants that can change your living room!

1. Yucca

Very easy to take care of, to make these indoor plants happy you just need sun, sun, and more sun as long as the Yucca plant is a drought tolerant evergreen native to the hot, dry areas of the Americas and the Caribbean. To properly treat your Yucca you need to know that the soil should be heavy enough to hold the plant upright. For best performance of potted yucca plants, the soil must also be well-draining and It should retain some of the water and nutrients. We recommend a three to one mixture of sand and peat which is a good medium for growing yucca in containers. Yes, after you understand this little tip you should definitely get this one because is considered one of the top air cleaning indoor plants!

2. Swiss Cheese Plant

If you follow Pinterest or any Interior design magazines for sure you met these beautiful indoor plants..a must have if you want to easily decor your living room and make it breathe! Do you want to know how to take care of this beauty? Water the pot deeply right after potting, then wait a week or two and resume a monthly feeding adding liquid fertilizer during watering. This plant is known in its habitat to reach 10 feet tall or more so it may simply get too big for its britches and in a  little environment like your living room, this is generally too tall! Fortunately, the plant responds well to trimming and you can even keep any cuttings and start them for a new plant. Moreover, you should keep the leaves wiped clean and watch for spider mite infestations because its reach foliage plant has a long life span and will reward you with its enchanting lacy leaves for years and years if you give her good care!

3. Aloe

We all know aloe’s numerous benefits. Having a plant like this in your room can be not only an aesthetic choice but also a good idea for your health as the juice from their leaves can be used to relieve pain from scrapes and burns and when applied topically and as a natural ingredient for your homemade cosmetics. Aloe is very easy to take care of as well… before you buy an aloe, note that you’ll need a location that offers bright, indirect sunlight. In fact, the plant doesn’t appreciate sustained direct sunlight, as this tends to dry out the plant too much and turn its leaves yellow. So we recommend to water aloe vera plants deeply, but infrequently. Don’t let your plant sit in water! Water it about every 3 weeks and even more sparingly during the winter. Use your finger to test dryness before watering. If the potting mix stays wet, the plants’ roots can begin to rot. And if you want to make use of the aloe vera plant’s soothing properties, remove a mature leaf from the plant and cut it lengthwise. Squeeze the gel out of the leaf and apply it to your burn, or simply lay the opened leaf gel-side down on top of the affected area. Did it work!?

4. Spathiphyllum or Peace Lily

The best care you can give your peace lily is to water it attentively. When (and only when) the potting soil is dry, add enough water to make it damp, but not so much as to create standing water. Too little water will cause the plant to wilt and die – in fact, if you neglect to water your plant, you should be able to see it visibly droop. However, too much water can cause a condition called root rot which can be fatal to the plant. Aim to water about once per week, when the soil is dry. It is sometimes recommended to even wait until the plant has begun to wilt ever-so-slightly before each watering. The peace lily should be close to, but not directly under a window in a warm room in your house where it will benefit from indirect sunlight. North or West facing windows are best as these do not allow direct sunlight all day. Try to avoid exposing your plant to cold air or too much sun, as these can cause the plant to become unhealthy and develop brown, shriveled leaves. Take care of this beauty because she can give you amazing flowers and big satisfaction!

5. Air Plant

With her particular foliage, this plant is an easy and unconventional alternative to decor your room! The fact that makes this one different from many others is that Air plant absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves, instead of through their roots. The name air plant comes actually from this fact they get their moisture and nutrition from the air. But how can we cure these peculiar leaves? Since your home probably isn’t a humid forest where air plant watering occurs via the rain and the relative humidity, you’ll have to water your air plants in one of these two ways. The first one is Watering air plants via misting: use a spray bottle to spritz air plants with water every day or two. After spraying the entire plant, place the damp air plant on a towel to dry for a few hours before putting it back in its decorative container or arrangement. For the second method, instead, you have to fill a bowl or sink with water and float the air plants in the water for 20 minutes to an hour every week. Then, take the plants out of the water, tip them upside down so any excess water can drain away, and then place them on a towel to dry before putting them back! Once you see this lovely growing you will feel so happy, so get the Air Plant for your humor!
