Sometimes the usual pre-drinks and club combo can get a bit boring, especially if you’re going the same clubs all the time, week after week – especially if you live in a bigger city you know has a lot to offer. So, what to do when the weekend rolls around and you’re trying to figure out what to do when you really want a girls’ night out? Look no further – we’re here to help. We’ve compiled a list of fun girls’ night out ideas to suit all budgets! Some of these are Glasgow-specific, but you will definitely find similar activities for a girls night out near you!
You can’t really go wrong with a classic – find that trendy spot near you that everyone’s talking about, and enjoy a few cocktails with your girls! Girls’ nights out like this are especially fun if you go somewhere where you can dress up nice, too.
This doesn’t necessarily mean staying in – a lot of cinemas like the Grosvenor in Glasgow’s West End actually serve alcohol, so combine drinks and a fun film!
Hillhead Bookclub’s Lady Balls Bingo is one of my favourite nights out in Glasgow, and a lot of cities will have bars and restaurants that hold similar events. Drag queen bingos are always a laugh (unless you’re like me and get crazy competitive and therefore annoyed about not winning) – so grab your friends and head to a fun (and relatively cheap) girls’ night out.
This is the real ‘treat yo’ self’ option: book a table at a cool gastropub or one of those restaurants with a seasonally changing taster menu, and enjoy a night of good food and great company!
Again, slightly pricier but definitely a fun girls’ night out – and you’ll learn something new, too! For a budget version, gather at a friend’s house and have everyone bring in a different wine. I mean c’mon what is better than wine and a girls night out?
A lot of museums are starting to hold night-time events (especially in London). If you and your friends are into arts and culture, have a look at what’s going on in your cities’ museums and head down for a memorable girls’ night out!
A fun retro idea for a girls’ night out: if you see a lot of roller-disco type nights popping up on your Facebook feed, why not get your friends together and head down to one?
Regardless of whether or not you can sing, karaoke is a guaranteed laugh.
Cities like Glasgow, London, and Manchester have insane gig scenes. Gigs for smaller/local bands are usually advertised on bars’ and pubs’ Facebook pages, so have a look at what’s going on near you – you and your friends might even discover a new favourite band!
Not technically a girls’ night out, but the nostalgia factor of this is amazing: everyone loved a good sleepover growing up, so why not recreate that now? Get snacks, wine, a good film or two, some face-masks and nail polishes and you’re all set for a fab time.
