Need to know how to remove eyelash extensions on your own? Here are our best tips and tricks for a safe removal without damaging your natural lashes!

Want to know how to remove eyelash extensions? Well we have some tips for you! All eyelashes were created beautiful, yet this does not mean that they don’t need a helping hand every now and again. Obviously there’s the tried and trusted mascara, but it may occasionally be worth swapping it out for the classic false lashes. They’re usually quite easy to apply but tend to be tricky to remove without damaging your precious darlings. Worried about loosing your natural beauties to artificial glue? Not to worry! Our guide on safely removing both strip eyelash extensions and individual eyelashes will walk you through the process step-by-step, ensuring that you never lose a real eyelash again.

Strip Eyelash Extensions

Wondering how to remove eyelash extensions? These fluffy, weightless creations are the perfect way to achieve fuller eyelashes and accentuate your eyes. A great addition to any makeup routine, strip lashes are applied with lash glue that can be quickly removed with eye makeup remover. Follow these easy steps below to make sure that your natural eyelashes do not suffer in the process!

Step 1  – Apply makeup remover onto cotton pad and swipe over top eyelash

Put a generous amount of eye makeup remover onto a cotton pad or bud (whichever is more convenient) and run it along your top eyelash. It will moisten the glue and help loosen the false eyelashes. Be sure to keep your eye closed and be gentle, or otherwise you may damage your real lashes.

Step 2 – Remove the false eyelash

Carefully peel off the lash extension, starting with the inner part of your eye and gently pulling outward.

Step 3 – Get rid of residue glue

You really don’t want any of that glue to stay on your real lashes, so make sure that you remove all of it with more eye makeup remover. Just like in step 1, simply soak a cotton pad and run it over your eye.

Step 4 – Clean the eyelash extensions

A lot of the false lashes are designed to be used multiple times, so as long as they’re free of any remaining glue, you could happily wear them on another night out. Find a safe place to store them where you won’t forget about them!

Individual Eyelash Extensions

Having trouble figuring out how to remove eyelash extensions? These babies are designed to stay on longer than strip extensions, which makes them a bit more of a hassle to remove. Still, there’s an easy way to do it without losing any of your real lashes. Just remember one very important point – DO NOT attempt to pull them out!

Step 1 – Remove eye makeup

Make sure that all of your eye makeup is gone – mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, you name it! It will be much easier to remove your lash extensions when your eye is perfectly clean.

Step 2 – Create steam

You will need to boil the kettle because you’re after some really hot water (you can even make a cup of tea whilst you’re at it). Once the water has boiled, pour it into a bowl and keep your face at a safe distance above it. Be careful not to hurt your skin but make sure that you’re well within reach of the steam. For best results, tie a towel over your head to prevent the steam from escaping. Stay in that position for about 10 minutes as the steam melts the glue. That way your false lashes will be ready to come off in no time!

Step 3 – Remove false eyelashes

Once the glue has been warmed, you can quickly remove the individual lashes with the use of a cotton pad and some makeup remover. Simply swipe gently down your eye and the eyelashes will start to fall out. Tada! All of your eye makeup is gone and no real lashes have been lost in the process.
