How To Get From London To Amsterdam For As Little As 35 Pounds

Whether you’re looking for a change of scene or a wild trip away with a few of your friends, it has never been easier to get from London to Amsterdam thanks to the new Eurostar service. Better yet, if you book far enough in advance it can cost as little as £35! Here’s how to do it!

Step 1: Book and prepare for your trip

First, decide when you want to go and book your trip from London to Amsterdam in advance on the Eurostar website.

Pack your bags! Unlike flying, you can take up to two suitcases with you (if you’re planning on staying longer than a weekend) with no weight restrictions at no extra cost!

Step 2: Take into account how much time you need before taking the train

Arrive at London St Pancras station at least 45 minutes before your train is set to depart. You will just have to get through security and go through passport control but it usually takes about 15-20 minutes to pass through. Once you are on the other side, there’s a Pret-A-Manger as well as other places to buy snacks for the journey (bearing in mind that you can still buy food and drinks once on the train!)

You will wait in a waiting area for your platform to be announced (usually 20 minutes before your train is due to leave!)

Once you’re on the train and found your seat (your seat is assigned on your ticket and you can set preferences like if you’d rather face frontward or need a bigger table to do your work on). Get comfy, sit back and relax, the journey takes approximately 3.5 hours!

It really is nothing when you think about it – you don’t have to get out of central London to one of the airports and you literally arrive right in the centre of Amsterdam! You could even just go for the night as they offer a train that leaves around 6pm – meaning you could be having drinks in Amsterdam by 10pm!

Step 3: Plan your trip back home

Unfortunately, they don’t offer a return direct trip back to London yet from Amsterdam! On the way back, take a Thalys train from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels-Midi/Zuid.
