Dads. They’re the best, aren’t they? They give us advice, love and guidance, and also an abundance of dad jokes. Father’s Day is coming up, so there’s an extra reason to celebrate the special man in your life. Here are my 8 Father’s Day ideas to properly celebrate your dad and make this Father’s Day a special one:
Everyone always suggests this one for Mother’s Day, however don’t Dads deserve this indulgence too? What is better than waking up to a home-made breakfast on a tray just minutes after opening your eyes? If you’re somewhat of a chef, maybe you could make something luxurious like French toast and berries or home-made Danish pastries. But even if you can’t make them from scratch, store-bought is just as delicious!
This is a little bit more dad-specific. Does your dad like horses? Why not take him to the races. Does he like film? The cinema is the place to go. Does he like gaming? Why don’t you set aside a day to just game together. The main thing is to think about what he wants to do, not what you want to do. This man has just spent many years making it all about you, it’s time to pay that love back.
Maybe your budget is a little bit higher this year, but what do you do? A weekend break, an experience or something personalised are all great ideas. If your Dad loves camping why not take him camping, or if he loves fast cars buy him a Formula 1 experience! A personal family favourite is to gift someone a hot air balloon ride so they can see our home and town from above.
There are so many places to get things personalised, from £2 to £2000 you can prove that you thought about this far before the night previously. Watch stands, hip flasks, cufflinks, wine glasses, and the list goes on. There really are so many ways to make something Dad-specific.
We’re just over halfway through our 8 Father’s Day ideas to properly celebrate you Dad, however so far we have focused on the two of you, here’s what else you can do for him. Does your Dad have a special someone? Well whoever it is you could always give him the chance to spend his present with that person. From romantic to exotic, giving someone the freedom to take who they like can also be a whole other gift in itself.
Think about your Dad’s favourite food and drink and either make it or buy it for him! If he loves steak with baby carrots and red wine followed by a chocolate lava cake then why not make your own version. Cooking can often be cheaper than presents and the time and thought that goes into it really adds a little je ne said quoi to the whole idea.
A lot of Dads are tech geeks (I know for sure that mine is!) so why not treat him to something tech-related? An Amazon Echo, a drone or wireless headphones can all spike the interest of someone who loves the latest in gadgets, and will keep them entertained long after the day finishes.
A lot of people (especially adults and college students) don’t live with their Dad, so maybe a surprise visit home would be the best gift that you can get. This is my personal favourite of my 8 Father’s Day ideas to properly celebrate your Dad. This is particularly applicable if you lives in another country or have a job which means that visits home are few and far between.
