Whether you’re over the moon or couldn’t give a royal shit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding 2018 is just around the corner. Preparations are hastily being made and the possibility of an extended celebratory weekend hangs in the balance (please government, please!). But even if you think this royal spectacle is really just an overblown farce, you’ve got to admit, it is a BIT exciting, even if it’s just the thought of those extra open hours at the pub that are making you tingle. If you’re still wondering what all the fuss is about, find out everything there is to know about the royal wedding, here!
When, where, who, what?
The Wedding will take place on Saturday the 19th of May at 12pm and is set to take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Interestingly, the famous chapel is also the burial site of many former royals including Henry VIII and Princess Margaret.
Theresa May and Donald Trump didn’t get an invite
Savage. But would YOU want a crotchety old party-pooper and a giant orange baby hanging around on the happiest day of your life? I think not. In all fairness even Prince Harry’s pals Barack and Michelle Obama aren’t invited. Perhaps they thought it would do Britain some good to push politics aside for just a day or two.
For the cake, they’re doing something a little bit different
Forgoing the traditionally chosen white tiered style (a la Wills and Kate), Harry and Meghan have gone for something a little more chic: an organic lemon and elderflower cake, iced in buttercream and finely decorated with fresh flowers. Delightful!
We’re still not quite sure who’s designing Meghan’s wedding dress
We are yet to find out which designer will be creating Meghan’s bridal gown, but it’s been speculated that she may choose Ralph & Russ who designed the gown for her engagement photo. Meghan’s already proven herself to be have an enviable sense of style, expertly dressing herself in an elegant yet laid-back fashion. Whatever she wears, we know she’ll look annoyingly good.
The couple are asking that people donate to charity as a wedding present
Meghan and Harry have chosen seven charities which that they wish for people to donate to including Crisis, CHIVA, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, The Myna Mahlia Foundation, StreetGames, The Wilderness Foundation UK and Sufers Against Sewage. We can all agree this is far superior to the John Lewis kettle we were all thinking of buying.
And what about the flowers?
Florist Phillipa Craddock will be creating floral displays of white garden roses, foxgloves and peonies (Meghan’s favourite flower). The foliage will be locally-sourced. Good on yer royals for supporting local business!
Whether you love the monarchy or loathe it, or you’re just not really sure what they actually do, the weekend of the royal wedding 2018 is set to be an exciting time, so pour yourself a tall glass of Pimms, sit back and enjoy the show.
