5 Essential Packing Tips For Going On Holiday

Summer holidays are around the corner, so inevitably many people will be going on holiday to somewhere with beaches or a place filled with culture. Though when travelling, you find yourself in a predicament where you are over-stuffing or you just can’t seem to find space for things you really need therefore you leave it behind. Not to fear, I have a steady guide in how to neatly pack all the things that you need to take with you on your holiday destination.

1. The Roly Poly:

O.k, O.k, not an original packing tip (and not it’s official name) but it sure is handy. It’s the fundamental rule of packing to help make the most of packing. For those of you who are not familiar with this game-changing technique, you simply roll your clothes and neatly align them in your suitcase. You will definitely be able to fit twice as much of clothing. So if the weather wasn’t what you intended, you can afford to have a back-up!

2. Packing Cubes:

If you’re like me, and you happen to be a neat freak, then packing cubes are for you. It divides your items making it really easy to find what you are looking for, whilst separating your shoes from touching your clothes. P.S packing cubes aren’t necessarily the most expensive items to purchase, they vary between £4.00 ($5.00) to £15.00 ($20.00). Like the idea of packing cubes?

3. Portable Charger:

A portable charger is a must have and no any old cheap one that runs out of juice really quickly. I’m talking about a real deal power pack that has preferably 2 power USB ports.  The best portable chargers should have a specification of 10000mAh or above. Certain brands to look out for are Lenovo, Xiaomi, Morphie and Anker. Often the price for a highly reliable portable charger ranges from £30-£100, but it is definitely worth investing in whether your lost and in need of directions, or you’re tired and need an Uber rescue!

4. Narrow it Down:

Narrow down what is deemed essential and what you NEED. Though to some people that means literally everything in their cupboard, but that shouldn’t be the case.  If you’re going for a 3-day trip, do you really need 7 tops and 8 pairs of trousers?! No, no, no. If need be, make 3 piles: a yes pile, a maybe pile and don’t need pile. Just narrow down exactly what you need, if you are visiting a place that has dry cleaning or laundry facilities, make use of it, so you can be sure to wear your favourite pair of jeans whilst on your trip.

5. Travel Documents & Checklist:

Before going on any trip, make sure you got all your documents ready! Print out your hotel details, your trip itinerary and flight details and pack them in a little travel document wallet so all your important information is smartly put away so you don’t end up rummaging through your suitcase or hand luggage.

Also, a major tip before packing is making a checklist (at least a week before travelling). The earlier the better, why? Because whilst you are doing your daily activities, you might forget about the smallest of things such as your hairbrush or any moisturising creams. In your head simulate your daily routines – go through what you do,  a checklist can guarantee you pack exactly what you need!

How do you pack your things before jetting off? Is there a particular tip I’ve left out that needs to be called for attention? Let me know, in the comments below!
