Easy Meals Anyone Can Cook

I’m sure there are many of us who wonder how our parents or grandparents learned to cook. Is there a special class that we all have to attend at some point? Or does it come with age? Learning to cook is a slow process, and it can be an easy one of you just choose some quick and simple meals. So grab your aprons and give any of these easy meals a try!

Pasta

The staple meal that anyone is capable of! Pasta is open to interpretation and there is nothing you can do to screw it up too badly. All that is required is pasta of your choosing, boiling water and some sauce. Now if you really want to test out your skills, skip the pre-made cans of pasta sauce and make your own. Grab a tin of crushed tomatoes, dice an onion, add some garlic, throw it all into a saucepan and voila! Throw out your freezer meals because this will be your new go to.

Stir Fry

A great meal to get your veggies in whilst still being quick and easy is stir fry. A helpful tip to make this meal even more efficient is to use a bag of mixed frozen vegetables. Decide on your favourite meat or make it vegetarian. Cut up an onion and cook it together with your meat. Throw it into a pan and add your bag of vegetables. Cook until the vegetables are soft then either use a pre-made stir fry sauce OR mix together soy sauce and oyster sauce for an easy and tasty stir fry sauce. This is a go-to for me especially when I can’t be bothered to cook. Give it a go and I promise you won’t regret it!

Lettuce wraps

Great for lunch and for dinner, lettuce wraps are simple and super tasty. They can be made with either beef strips, chicken or turkey mince, or any other meat that you desire. Mix together your meat of choice in a saucepan with some shallots. Throw in some fresh chilies, garlic, ginger, soy sauce and sprinkle some brown sugar. Trust your instincts with this one and go a little wild! Consider boiling some rice noodles to add into the lettuce wrap, since they work perfectly with many Asian inspired stir fry dishes. This one will definitely impress your guests!

Curry

This is a dish that comes in many different forms. A classic way to start is to dice some chicken and decide on a kind of curry. Red, yellow, butter chicken, massaman, the list goes on and on. A lot of the time, the recipe for these different kinds of curries can be found on the back of the curry paste jar. This definitely helps beginner cooks out a lot. Generally speaking, the only other ingredients that you will need to purchase are coconut milk, onion and other veggies (I personally just go for a bag of mixed frozen vegetables again). Steam some rice and you can even treat yourself to some naan bread or papadums if you really want to impress and ta-da you are done! It’s so easy and you can even experiment with a number of different flavours!

Cooking is a lot of fun and is a good way to experiment. Try these easy meals and let us know how you made them uniquely your own!
