Do you spend most of your time lounging by the pool or at the beach? Here are some fun interactive DIY outdoor games to play this summer!

It is nearly summer! I am so excited, as this means that we get to spend a lot more time outdoors soaking up the sun! There are lots of fun outdoor games that won’t cost you anything that you can play in your background or at the park with your friends, to break things up a little from lounging at the pool or the beach. Here are 8 great DIY games to enjoy with your friends and family this summer!

1. Water Balloon Dodgeball

One thing I definitely miss from high school is playing dodgeball. I actually looked forward to this game in Physical Ed, and when I knew it was on, I didn’t dread it. This can be a very funny game, and is even more fun if you replace a normal dodge ball with a water-filled balloon! Oh, and also, it will be less painful! Get your Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn on by filling up numerous balloons with cool water, separate yourselves into two teams and let the games begin! Remember the 5 Ds of Dodgeball! Dodge, Dip, Dive, Dunk and Dodge!

2. Giant Beer Pong

One of my favourite college party games is most definitely beer pong. It is even more fun once you have actually drunk some of the beer. Of course, that is when it becomes harder to aim properly. This game is even more fun when playing the giant version of it, and is something that can be easily set up with large tubs. I personally would fill the tubs with water instead of beer, I wouldn’t want to waste the beer! And instead each time, you can take a swig of your beer on the side, what do you think?

3. Outdoor Pictionary

Pictionary is definitely a well-loved classic party game and one that can definitely be transported for more fun outdoors. Simply bring a portable blackboard and some chalk to your next picnic and you can have fun playing this game with family and friends for hours.

4. Charades

Charades is, of course, a game that you can play anywhere, and it is a perfect outdoor game as well! I never get tired of this game and immediately light up when my family decides that we should play it. Simply choose your theme and let the guessing games commence!

5. Drip Drip Dunk

During the summer heat, it’s definitely a relief to jump into the pool or ocean to get refreshed. I love water games and this one is a perfect alternative to Duck, Duck, Goose. For this game, you will need to choose a category, for example, colours, that the person holding a full cup of water will choose. He will go around the circle dripping a bit of water on each person that guesses the wrong colour. The person who guesses the right colour gets the whole cup dumped on them. The dumpee then has to run around the circle and fight for the spot in the circle.

6. Lawn Twister

Twister is a fun family favourite of course and is almost even more fun in the backyard. Simply draw a different coloured circle with coloured chalk and start to play. Being on the grass, there’s a lot less risk of getting hurt, and is why I love this DIY outdoor game more than the original!

7. Water Balloon Pinata

Of course, the water balloon twist of the traditional Pinata is a definite refreshing outdoor game. Simply hang several cool water-filled balloons in your backyard with lots prepared to the side as replacements. The aim of the game is to burst as many as possible. This is a lot of fun and definitely refreshing, make sure to wear something you wouldn’t mind getting wet!

8. Pass The Water

This outdoor game involves a little skill and concentration. It involves filling up one cup of water whilst all the guests stand in a line. You will need to pour the water into the cup of the person behind you, making sure not to let any of it spill!
