7 Best Computer Games To Steal All Your Free Time

Computer games are a super fun way to spend your free time – but what are some of the best ones to play on your laptop whilst you lie in bed and ignore all your work? Here are the seven best computer games to steal all your free time.

1. The Sims

This was the original addictive series of computer games. The premise of The Sims is simple – you live life. You build houses, make a family, move them in, and then try not to burn the place down while making a plate of goopy carbonara. The Sims how has 4 interactions with countless expansion packs, so you are definitely not limited for choice. The Sims is also the perfect game for millennials as it will allow you to live out your unrealistic dreams of owning property and getting promoted at work.

2. Stardew Valley

Remember when FarmVille what the big thing and your Facebook was flooded with requests from your friends to water their crops? That is the basis of Stardew Valley, only it is much more fun. Stardew Valley is a farming simulator, and one of the best at that. You take the role of the owner of a farm and spend your days mining resources, fishing, cooking meals, and crafting things for your farm. When you are not doing that, you can wander around the town and chat with the locals. If you want, you can build relationships with them and even get married! The game also has its own in-game calendar with its own months and seasons, meaning you can enjoy spring, summer, autumn, and winter in the game. Stardew Valley was based on the older Nintendo series, Harvest Moon, which you might have played as a kid. If you enjoyed those games, you will love this one!

3. Terraria

Terraria is a game that is a sort of combination of Minecraft and the original Sonic games. It is a 2D sandbox game where you are given a pickaxe, a sword, and an axe, and are sent into the world to start your adventure. Along the way, you can craft new equipment, pick up items, and fight enemies such as zombies, skeletons, and blobs of living slime. One of the great features of this game is that it has a multiplayer mode allowing you to play with your friends online. It also has expert difficulty, so don’t worry about getting bored with this game quickly. Once you become good at it, simply up the difficulty level and you will have a brand new challenge on your hands! If you enjoy games like Minecraft, this is a game for you.

4. Night In The Woods

Night in the Woods is an adorable game with the cutest animation – but is much darker under the surface. You play as a girl named Mae who has just dropped out of college and returned to her hometown – perfect for all you university students who dream of packing up your dorm and moving home! The focus of the game is to wander around Mae’s town of Possum Springs and see how much the place has changed since Mae was last here. Mae uncovers a dark secret that the town has been hiding and, even worse, her best friend Casey has gone missing. You have to journey through the town trying to discover what happened to Casey and solve the mystery of Possum Springs. The pastel colour palette and sweet character drawings make it a relaxing and enjoyable game for a lazy day in bed.

5. House Flipper

This is an indie game that is available on steam but believe me when I say it is totally worth the purchase. As the title suggests, you are a house flipper. You buy houses, give them a makeover, and then sell them for a profit. The reason this game is so fun though is that you have to do all the makeover work yourself. You have to physically paint the walls, sweep the floor, tile the bathroom, install the plumbing. Everything is up to you. Do you want to change the size of a room? Just sledgehammer the wall! The game also recently got a landscaping DLC that you can download which allows you to makeover the garden too! Mowing the grass, planting flowers, and digging the soil are all options for you. This game is so much fun and the lack of danger means it is a great way to relax and switch off after a long day.

6. Planet Coaster

Computer games about owning and running your own theme park have existed for years, but none of them quite drain your time like Planet Coaster. The aim of the game is to build the biggest and most impressive theme park, complete with a giant rollercoaster. The real charm of Planet Coaster, though, is the crazy ways you can build your park. Rollercoasters that you thousands of metres into the sky, or that have such severe twists that the car goes flying off the rails are all possibilities in this game. It provides endless enjoyment and can be absolutely hilarious.

7. Hello Neighbour

If you want a game that will take over your life and slowly drive you mad, this is the game for you. Hello Neighbour is all about breaking into your neighbour’s house. Why? Honestly, I’m not sure. Whatever the reason, though, you are very determined to do it. You start off in your own home and must make your way over to your neighbour’s house and attempt to break in. The neighbour is home, however, so make sure he doesn’t see you! The twist that makes this game so great is that the neighbour learns your movements. Did you go in through the front door last time? He’s boarded it up now. Did you try to climb in the window? He’s standing watching from there. The game becomes more difficult the longer you play and it is both fascinating and frustrating.
