An Open Letter To Vape Smokers

Vape smokers could be annoying for a lot of tobacco fans. Here, a personal outburst for explaining my reasons!

Dear Vape Smokers,

It’s a Real Smoker who speaks. I think it’s the time to speak out in favour of my category. We are fed up of your arrogant glance, when we take the liberty to ask you for a lighter or a paper, as well as the waving, with utter contempt, of your metallic cigarette. I don’t want to say that smoking is healthy or is a good thing but I have to admit that there are a lot of things which annoy me about you, guys. First of all, if you want to smoke, do it properly!

Here below, there are some reasons why I hate vape smokers.

1. Vaping just because it’s trendy.

I can understand people who start to smoke electronic cigarettes in order to quit smoking, as a long term goal. After all, the act itself is an addiction, difficult to get rid of. However, I had the unfortunate chance to meet teenagers smoking it. Some of them had never tried a cigarette before. From a tool for reducing or abandoning completely, e-cigarettes have become a shallow trend. On top of that, they are addictive in the same way.

At least, in the tobacco world, the fag moment is more sociable. How many conversation that can start after asking for a lighter! While you are breathing through your weird object. It’s more pleasant too. Think about the difference between leaning your mouth on warm paper and taking a puff rather than against a cold piece of technology. Where is the pleasure of that?

If you want to keep this vice, you might as well deeply enjoy doing it.

2. Thinking to have the right to smoke everywhere.

I feel very sensitive about this point. Who belongs from the tobacco world knows that he has to be a little hero in order to satisfy his will. It’s years that we are obliged to express our obscure inclination outdoors, whether there are poor weather conditions or gentle temperatures. Whatever, trained or not, we know where our place is. But for you, vape smoker fellows, it’s not something so obvious!

Besides smoking electronic cigarettes indoors is now recognisably illegal, people just do it. Without having a clue that, maybe, it could be wrong. I personally found myself behind a bar where everybody was just breathing his spectacular smoke towards my face. It’s not cool! In particular if you are supposed to cope with rain and ice hands, which in winter became your best mates. Meanwhile, it seems politically correct to not say that your vape is annoying in the same way or more.

3. I hate your sweet flavoured smoke. Really!

Yes, now I’m going to be a little be awkward but romantic, at the same time. When I think about smoking, I have a moment of proustian memory in my mind. A heavy recognizable smell of stinky cigarette! Undoubtedly, nothing comparable of what comes from your plastic product.

I deeply dislike taking in the sickly cinnamon or toffee flavoured fart gas out out of a e-cigarette. Chocolate, caramel, cherry are fragrances that I hope to perceive in a bakery. Surely, concerning smoking, I will be more keen and happy to use different adjectives for describing odors that I breathe.

4. You are not better than us!

First of all, you are not saving money. Stop lying to yourself! I met people so into the world of liquids or e-cigarette gadgets who change my perspective about related money matters. Smoking vape is an addiction and, whichever it is, it is going to be expensive.

In addition to this, smoking vape is not necessarily healthier than traditional cigarettes. Indeed, there are still a lot of chemical compounds present in the electronic versions. Even if health risks are not in this moment so definable, they will be. However, the verdict, whatever worse or better, it’s about to come. So, why do you have to limit yourself for exceeding in something you want to do?
