8 Tips On How To Get A Good Night’s Sleep For Workaholics

If you’re a workaholic, you’re probably on the go so much that your sleeping pattern is non-existent. It can be hard to get a good night’s sleep when you’re just so busy but getting a good night’s sleep is easier than you think. Here are 8 tips on how to get a good night’s sleep.

1. Decide on a time to sleep and stick to it

Being a workaholic can mean that you’re rushed off your feet all the time that time just seems to get away from you. Sleeping is so important to help your body rest and re-energise you for the next day.

So when it comes to sleeping, make sure you get enough by deciding on a specific time to sleep and sticking to it. If you’re a workaholic, you’ll need all the energy you need to face the day rather than waking up tired and cranky.

2. Stay off the coffee

You might need coffee throughout your day to keep up with the number of things you’ve got to do but too much coffee will keep you up all night.

Try reducing down the amount of coffee you have or substitute it for a fruit smoothie or water to keep you hydrated.

3. Make sure to eat throughout the day

Not taking regular breaks to eat during the day can be a common thing for workaholics to do but it can also have an effect on your body. While you might have a deadline looming or your boss is breathing down your neck to get something done, don’t forget to take care of yourself first.

If you haven’t eaten all day and try to wolf down as much food as you can before sleeping, this can affect your digestive system.

4. Prioritise your tasks each day

You might be a pro at prioritising already if you’re a workaholic but don’t take on more than you can handle. It’s good to push yourself but don’t overexert yourself to the point where you are stressed and exhausted. If you are unable to finish a particular task one day, ask yourself if it can wait until the next day.

Prioritising tasks means just that – prioritising what is important and what needs to be done first. Don’t try to do everything all at once as it can take a toll on you mentally and physically. Being stressed out can impact you when you’re trying to sleep and worries can keep you up all night.

6. Avoiding using electronics before you sleep

Using electronics before you sleep can keep you up due to the brightness from the screens. If you must use your phone or laptop before you sleep, dim the light so this can help you slowly become tired and help you fall asleep quicker.

7. Don’t drink fluids before you sleep

While it is good for you to stay hydrated during the day, don’t drink fluids right before you sleep. This can interrupt your sleep during the night as you’ll need to go for those bathroom breaks.

Aim to stop drinking fluids 1-2 hours before you sleep and make sure to go to the bathroom before you sleep so you can maximise your sleeping time.

8. Relax your mind and unwind

Workaholics’ minds can be constantly thinking so take 15 minutes before you sleep to relax your mind and unwind. Don’t think of anything and leave your worries for the next day so you can get your required 8 hours sleep.
