10 Times That Kate Middleton was a Normal Mom

Growing up, Kate Middleton had a normal life. She met her future husband, Prince William in 2001 when both were beginning their first year of college at The University of St. Andrews. When Kate and Prince William began dating in 2003, the former’s life was constantly now in the spotlight.

Despite two brief breakups, Kate Middleton and Prince William got engaged in October 2010 and their wedding took place on April 29th, 2011. A short time after, the newlyweds became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. As her husband is currently second in the line of succession to the British Throne, Kate Middleton is most likely going to be a future queen consort of England.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have three children: Prince George (born on July 22nd, 2013), Princess Charlotte (born on May 2nd, 2015), and Prince Louis (born on April 23rd, 2018). Even though her husband and three children were born into royalty, Kate and Prince William have earned praise from media outlets around the world for trying to give their children as much of a normal childhood as possible.

The royal couple’s parenting style is largely influenced by how Prince William’s mother, the late Princess Diana, made it a huge point to give him and his brother Prince Harry as much of a normal childhood as possible. There have been several times over the years where Kate Middleton has been seen acting as any mother would and not a royal mother.

With that being said, listed below are 10 Times That Kate Middleton was a Normal Mom:

1. She Does School Drop Off:

Prince George and Princess Charlotte, her two eldest children, attend the same school together (Prince Louis is still too young to attend even nursery school). Kate and Prince William are regulars at morning dropoff at Thomas’s Battersea (the school Prince George and Princess Charlotte go to). Before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge left for their most recent royal tour of Pakistan, both reportedly made sure they had enough time to still drop-off Prince George and Princess Charlotte off at school before leaving for their five-day-long royal tour.

2. Her Role at Her Sister Pippa’s Wedding:

Kate Middleton is the oldest of three children and her younger siblings are sister Pippa and brother James. Younger sister Pippa, who indirectly “stole the show” with her white figure-hugging dress, served as Kate’s maid of honor at her 2011 wedding to Prince William. When Pippa got married to Hedge Fund Manager James Matthews on May 20th, 2017, the wedding still received significant press coverage around the world.

However, due to the Duchess of Cambridge becoming a future Queen of England and not wanting to upstage her sister on her wedding day, Kate wasn’t the maid of honor or a bridesmaid for Pippa’s wedding. While her two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte were among the page boys and bridesmaids for Pippa’s wedding, Kate played several roles in the ceremony.

Not only did she help Pippa make her entrance by holding up the train; Kate also led and looked after all the children (including her two eldest) who were the page boys and bridesmaids. In one of the most circulating photos from Pippa’s wedding, Kate was seen shushing all the page boys and bridesmaids before they all entered the church.

3. When She Gave Prince George A Royal Scolding:

Besides the Duchess of Cambridge shushing the page boys and bridesmaids (See #2 above), another image that went viral from Pippa’s wedding was Prince George crying after being scolded? Who scolded Prince George? His own mother Kate Middleton! The reason for this royal telling off? Prince George stepping on the train of his Aunt Pippa’s wedding dress, which cost $40,000 euros. Prince George was seen in tears as his mother was scolding him.

4. When She Let Prince William Handle A Crying Prince George:

As the then royal family of four were making their entrance for Princess Charlotte’s (who was two months old at the time) christening, older brother Prince George (who was almost three-years-old at the time) was getting fussy and started to cry. Kate Middleton, handle the situation like a pro by allowing her husband Prince William comfort their son as she was pushing Princess Charlotte in her pram.

5. When She Left The Hospital With Her Postbaby Body on Display:

After giving birth to Prince George on July 22nd, 2013, Kate Middleton and Prince William introduced him to the world the following day as they exited the hospital. When they brought out their one-day-old son out of the hospital, Kate wasn’t afraid to hide her stomach after giving birth. Hopefully, this moment can show other new mothers to embrace their bodies post-birth.

6. The Way She Handled Her Daughter’s Tantrum in Public:

When the royal family was on their five-day royal tour of Poland and Germany in 2017, Princess Charlotte (who was two years old at the time) famously threw a tantrum on the Hamburg Airport. The fourth in the line of succession for the British throne was seen stamping her feet and sitting down on the tarmac.

Kate Middleton handled the situation with grace as she bent down to calm her daughter down and was able to put a smile back on the youngster’s face.

During the Gigaset Charity Polo Match in 2015, several images of Kate Middleton and her eldest child Prince George went viral. The images ranged from the mother and son lying down in the grass together, taking a stroll around the lawn, and playing together.

In addition, Kate showed that she was like all regular moms as she was seen smiling and laughing at her son rolling down a hill and doing some yoga poses.

8. When She Had To Dress and Redress Her Toddler Multiple Times:

During a party for military families when the royal family was in Canada, the Duchess of Cambridge was seen having to make sure a then-toddler Princess Charlotte still had her sweater on. During the event, Princess Charlotte couldn’t stop taking it off.

9. The Trip To The Taronga Zoo:

When Prince William and Kate Middleton went on their three-week-long state visits to Australia and New Zealand in April 2014, they decided to bring their then 9-month-old son Prince Goerge with them. The state visits also marked Prince George’s first royal tour.

During the family’s visit to The Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia, Kate Middleton had several “Mom” Moments, which included her reaction to when Prince George put something in his mouth and cleaning her son’s drool and wiping on her expensive designer dress.

10. When She Brought Snacks For Her Children:

During an event this past summer, The Duchess of Cambridge was spotted giving her three children some prepared snacks to eat after they were hungry. As she’s feeding a one-year-old Prince Louis in her lap on the grass, the trunk of the Royals’ car is open with Prince George and Princess Charlotte sitting inside of it.
