10 Things You Absolutely Need To Bring To SUNY Oswego

SUNY Oswego is quite possibly one of the prettiest schools in the SUNY system. From the newly renovated education buildings to the sunsets which are rated 2nd best in the world, there really isn’t much to complain about. To make the most out of your time, here are the 10 things you absolutely need to bring to SUNY Oswego.

1. An assortment of coats.

You would think this is a no brainer, but in Oswego the weather changes so often you are never really sure what you should be wearing. To stay on track with the weather, a light rain coat, medium weight coat, and a parka is rather needed.

2. Actual winter boots.

Although we do not actually have ropes to hold onto while walking to class, sometimes I wish we did. Classes are rarely cancelled in Oswego, so make sure you have a good warm pair of rain boots to get you to and from classes when the weather gets harsh.

3. A bathing suit!

In the fall the weather is perfect to head down to the shoreline, lay out a towel on the flat rocks, and tan/swim the day away right on Lake Ontario. There is also an assortment of sand beaches outside of town.

4. Collection of hats.

Some days the Oswego Wind is just too bad to even worry about your hair. So throw on a baseball cap and own it!

5. DayQuil and NyQuil

The constant change in weather leaves almost everyone sick with the “Oswego Plague.” The only tip is to stock up on medicine and power through it.

6. A big appetite.

Oswego has really stepped up its restaurant game within the past 2 years since I have been there. This past year, Dinos Bar and Grill came to Oswego and it doesn’t disappoint! It was recently rated to have the Best Hamburger in Central NY in a contest!

7. Hiking shoes/sneakers!

Being on the shore of Lake Ontario really has its perks! One of those being numerous spots to explore. Take a day to walk along the break wall that leads to the light house or jump in the car with your friends and adventure to the Chimney Bluffs State Park. The views are breath taking!

8. A passport/ Enhanced License.

9. A will to have a good time.

Whether you enjoy partying and going out on weekends or staying in with friends is your idea of a good night, Oswego will always deliver.

10. Plenty of phone storage.

Like I mentioned, the sunsets are ranked 2nd best in the world! I have been at Oswego for 2 years now and I am sure half my camera roll is filled with sunset pictures. Each one is unique in its own way and sure to take your breath away.
