Since high school, almost everyone has matured and looked back on those four years and had a WTF moment. During high school, it’s hard to see outside of your four years that your in. But once you leave, you begin to realize many of the things you once worried about are no longer worth your time. Here are a few things I wish I knew in high school.
1. Trying academically is NOT lame.
Doing well in school is not considered nerdy by any means.
2. Not everyone has the best intentions.
Certain people will stab you in the back and not think twice about it.
3. Relationships aren’t everything.
Although they have their perks, relationships don’t define who you are.
4. The majority of people aren’t worth impressing.
The opinions of random people shouldn’t influence your decisions.
5. No one really knows what they’re doing.
Don’t let people fool you, experience is the only way to have a clue about the real world.
6. Being close to your family is cool.
Once you get past that, “I can’t be seen in public with you” phase, you’ll actually enjoy spending time with your parents.
7. Life is not fair.
Life won’t shelter you, you have learn to suck up your losses and roll with the L’s.
8. Be yourself.
Everyone has heard it about a million times, but quirks are beautiful and individuality is empowering.
So these are a few of the things I wish I knew in high school. Let me know in the comments if you feel the same way!
