The Winter Skincare Routine You Need To Follow Start To Finish

Winter time is upon us, and we all know what that means… Dry skin is coming! The cold and frigid winter air and the wretched winds leave our skin looking cracked and covered with dry patches.

Washing our skin hurts too much and drys it out even more, but not washing our skin leaves us with second-day makeup acne that we don’t want.

It’s almost impossible to find the perfect skin care routine, but it’s not impossible to find a skin care routine that works perfectly for you. Here are some tips and tricks that can send you in the right direction toward finding the skin care routine that works for you:

Cleanse First

In order to maintain flawless skin, you must always cleanse your face first thing in the morning and at the end of the night. A great product to use when cleansing your face is a micellar water. It is gentle yet effective. It’s easy to use. All you have to do is grab a cotton pad, saturate the cotton pad with the cleanser, and wipe all the excess dirt and grime off of your face.

If you do not feel like the micellar water is getting everything off of your face, than try washing your face first with your preferred face wash. However, doing both of these things can be extremely drying to the skin, especially during winter time when the air alone can dry out your skin. To prevent chronic dryness and flakey skin, make sure you are always moisturizing later on in your skin routine.

Acne Treatment

If you suffer from acne, like many people do, this should be a crucial step in your skin care regimen. Once your skin is clean of makeup, dirt, and oils, use a blemish pad to attack your trouble spots and problem areas. You should take the blemish pad and rub it into the skin, highlighting the forehead, cheekbones, chin, nose, and any other problem ares you may have. This should help to prevent acne from worsening, and may even help some acne disappear.

Facial Oil

This is a step you may or may not choose to include in your skincare regimen, but it can be helpful. Using a facial oil, such as the blue facial oil from Herbivore, can help to combat redness and irritation in the skin. This particular facial oil acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial to aid in clarifying the complexion.

Make Time For Sheet Masks

Whether or not you choose to use facial oil in your skincare routine, it is extremely important to make moisturizing one of the key components of your daily regimen in order to avoid dry skin. One way to moisturize effectively is with a moisturizing sheet mask.

Sheet masks are great for dry skin because they are super-soaked and full of vitamins and minerals. Sheet masks leave your face feeling hydrated, along with leaving the skin glowing with moisture.

Moisturize, Moisturize Moisturize

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again. You need to moisturize. You do not need to use a sheet mask if it does not seem like something you would be into, but you need to moisturize somehow and someway. There are so many different kinds of moisturizers out there to choose from that there is no way you will not find a moisturizer that works good for your skin specifically.

You can use a creamy moisturizer, such as this moisturizer from Herbivore. This moisturizer leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth, and is nice in the winter due to its heavier consistency. If you don’t love the feeling of a creamy moisturizer, you could always opt for a gel moisturizer instead. You can try this gel-oil moisturizer if you prefer to have a lighter and more watery sensation on your skin.

Skin Makeup

If your experiencing issues with your skin, such as dryness, redness, oily skin, acne, etc, you should try to buy makeup specific to whatever skin problem you may be having. Some makeup brands, such as Burt’s Bees have specific products made to combat skin issues while providing the coverage you need to go about your day.
