The Ultimate Guide To FSU Financial Aid

You’re all done applying to college, but now the real stress begins: how in the world are you going to pay for it?! Florida Sate University is your dream school, but with a nightmare price tag. Luckily, FSU’s financial aid can help you save a ton of money in the long run, if you’re willing to put up with the tedious process. Follow these ten tips to confidently take on the FSU financial aid process and afford your dream school!

1. Know your deadlines!

FSU asks that you submit your FAFSA by March 1st, which is the priority filing date. You don’t want to miss this date because if you do, your chances of getting financial aid are much lower!

2. Utilize the FSU financial aid resources.

FSU has an awesome financial aid office that will help you immensely if you’re lost. You can have a consultation with a financial aid officer by walking right in! If you aren’t nearby, you can still take advantage of their resources by calling them at 860-644-0539 or e-mailing them at ofacs@admin.fsu.edu.

3. Keep a list of what documents you need to submit.

You have to stay on top of all the different documents you’ll need to submit and all the things you will need on hand to do so! You’re going to have to submit the FAFSA, and you may even need to provide further documentation for verification afterwards. You’ll also need your parents’ 2015 tax returns and income info on hand (as well as your own) when you’re filling out the FAFSA.

4. Follow the instructions that the FSU site provides!

For admitted students, FSU has a great resource called the To-Do List located in your myFSU Student Central account. You can also follow these instructions to make sure you aren’t missing a step!

5. Where will I see my financial aid award?

You will be able to see your financial aid award online once you activate your FSUID!

6. When will I find out my financial aid award?

FSU starts awarding financial aid in March and April. If you complete your FAFSA after the March 1st priority date, expect to wait at least a week before a financial aid notification is available online.

7. Get your enrollment deposit in as soon as you can!

To secure your spot in the freshmen class, FSU asks that you send in a $200 non-refundable enrollment deposit by May 1st, 2017.
