The Top 10 Marist Date Spots

Marist College is located on the Hudson River, providing it’s students with a beautiful view. I find it to be one of the most appealing features of Marist College. One of our not so appealing features is that, although we have a wonderful view, we are located in the middle of nowhere. So, when it comes to picking out a place to take someone on a date, you might have to go out and search for the perfect spot. Here are some of the more popular Marist date spots!

1. Cosimos For A Romantic Date

Cosimos is an Italian restaurant within walking distance of campus. It is located across the campus, off to the right of the Mike Artegas Health and Fitness Express. It is the perfect spot to take your date if you want a romantic setting. And not only that, the food’s delicious!

2. Lola’s Cafe For A Cute Lunch Date

Lola’s Cafe is a great date spot if you plan your date around lunch time. It’s a sweet and simple cafe that offers many different sandwiches, paninis, and wraps for you to choose from. It’s small, but not too small, making it a comfortable place for you and your date to get to know each other.

3. The Walkway Over The Hudson For An Active Date

Like I said before, our school has a beautiful view of the river. The view is even better and brighter on the Walkway Over the Hudson. So if you want to show your date a beautiful view, take them on a walk.

4. The Poughkeepsie Galleria For A Movie Date

The Poughkeepsie Galleria is a mall on Route 9 that has a movie theatre. It’s a simple date, but seeing a movie with your date will give you something to talk about afterwards. Now, I know movie tickets can be expensive nowadays, but you can buy $5 movie tickets at Student Activities on Marist College.

5. Kobe Hibachi For A Hibachi Date

Kobe Hibachi is a Japanese style hibachi restaurant where they cook and entertain you, while serving you food. The food is delicious and even if you don’t like hibachi style food, they offer other dinner options such as sushi and noodles.

6. The Palace Diner For A Diner Date

The Palace Diner is within walking distance of campus and is a hot spot for Marist students to hang out and grab a bite to eat. It’s also a great place to have a nice date in a comfortable setting. The food is good and there are multiple options on the menu to choose from.

7. Rossi Rosticceria Deli For A Picnic Date

Rossi Rosticceria Deli is an Italian deli that makes wonderful sandwichess that are sometimes too big to eat in one sitting. There is limited seating at this deli, so my suggestion is that you get your sandwiches and take your date on a little picnic on the green, or down to the river, to enjoy the weather and the view.

8. Spins Bowl For A Bowling Date

Spins Bowl is a bowling alley down route 9. It’s a great place to take a date if you want an interactive and fun date! There is food and drinks, as well as games to play in the arcade if you run out of time at the lane, or if you get bored bowling.

9. Hyde Park Drive-In Theatre For An Outdoor Movie Date

Hyde Park Drive-in Theatre shows movies outdoors while you sit in your car with your friends or your date. It’s similar to the date that Danny took Sandy on in the movie Grease. Not only do you get to enjoy a nice movie, you get to look up and see the stars, making the date more romantic.

10. A Day Spent Walking Around Rhinebeck

Rhinebeck is a little village, quite far from Marist College, but it has lots of small shops and nice restaurants to browse through. It’s the perfect place to explore and get to know a person. Also, if you truly have no idea what to do for your date, you and your date can go browse around and pick something out together.

Some of these spots you will need to find some form of transportation to help you get there, and some places are within walking distance of Marist College. Nevertheless, these are all wonderful spots to take your dates on, and there are multiple ways to find transportation at Marist College to help you get to your date spot.

Hey everybody! I am a junior studying English Writing while double minoring in Creative Writing and Music. I love to read, write, ski, travel, sail, and sing. I spend the majority of my time with my family and friends, but my "me" time consists of lots of reading and writing. I hope to one day be a published author and possibly work for a publishing house as an editorial assistant because who doesn't want to read for a living! That being said, I prefer to read science fiction & fantasy, romance, and historical fiction; and I enjoy reading about fairytales, folklore, and myths. Some of my favorite series are The Selection series by Kiera Cass, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, and the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.
