The Most Unhealthy Fast Food Items You Won’t Believe

Everyone knows that fast food is not the best thing to eat if you are trying to get in shape. Some fast-food chains try to have healthy items on their menu but the majority of meals are very high in calories. Here are a few of the unhealthiest fast-food items you can order.

1. Carnitas Burrito- Chipotle

Most people understand that eating chipotle burritos might not be the best thing for your diet. Every once in a while, having a burrito is fine, as long as you don’t overdo it. The carnitas burrito from Chipotle might be the worst thing to do if you care about your weight.

This Burrito has more than 1,400 calories after adding the most popular toppings such as sour cream, fajita vegetables, and guacamole. Without adding the extras, the carnitas burrito still packs over 1,000 calories. It also has a staggering 3,020mgs of sodium. That is more than 600 mg more than the recommended daily intake! It also has around 23.5gs of saturated fat and 135mgs of cholesterol. Chipotle does offer much healthier menu items so you might be better off getting a grilled chicken salad than the carnitas burrito.

2. Five Guys- Large French Fries

It is no secret that French fries are unhealthy. An order of large fries from Five Guys might be some of the unhealthiest French fries out there. A large order of fries has a whopping 1475 calories on average. That is 75% of the daily recommended calorie intake!

These French fries also have 71gs of fat, 14gs of which are saturated fats. The daily recommended fat intake is between 44g-70g so these fries have more fat than you should consume in a full day. If you absolutely must have five guys fries (I understand because they are quite tasty) then you will be much better off getting a small order. If you are a big French fry fanatic, you might want to try sweet potato fries. They are way healthier.

3. Starbucks- Venti White Hot Chocolate

Starbucks is the most popular coffee shop in the United States. Their white hot chocolate is a favorite among customers during the winter season. While hot chocolate might not be a food item necessary, it is still worth mentioning due to its insane sugar count. A Venti (large) cup of this white hot chocolate has more than 75g of sugar and 563 calories on average. That is 3 times more sugar than is daily recommended!

Most of the flavored drinks at Starbucks are high in sugar but there are some healthy alternatives. Some of their tea options are not too bad as well as their house coffee before adding sugar. If you are really craving hot chocolate, there are many recipes online that are much better for you than the Starbucks version.

4. Ultimate Breakfast Platter- Burger King

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is what gives us the nutrition and energy to get through our daily tasks. Whoever came up with this saying was definitely not talking about the ultimate breakfast platter from Burger King.

This ultimate breakfast platter has 1190 calories which are over half of the recommended 2000 calorie daily intake. It also has 2460mgs of sodium and 32g of sugar as well as 15g of fat. This monster of a breakfast will fill you up but with all the wrong things. If you do decide to eat this meal then you will be eating half of your daily calories, more than the recommended daily sodium intake, and nearly a day’s worth of sugar. Taking the extra half hour in the morning to make your own breakfast is a much better way to start your morning than eating the Ultimate Breakfast Platter from Burger King.

5. Large Turkey Bacon Guacamole Sub- Quiznos

Turkey is one of the healthy deli meats you can buy but if you add a bunch of bacon, ranch dressing, and guacamole to it, the calories become outrageous. The large turkey bacon guacamole sub from Quiznos has nearly 1,300 calories and 66g of fat on average. Not only that, but it also has over 3,810mg of sodium with 145mg of cholesterol. That is an unbelievable amount for a turkey sandwich!

This sandwich has more than half your daily calories, nearly double your daily sodium intake, and almost all the recommended daily fat intake. What is unfortunate is many oblivious people view this sandwich as healthy since its turkey. The truth is, the sandwich is worse for you than many of the other items on the menu. Make sure you do your research before ordering “healthy” fast food items.

6. Chicken Club Salad with Crispy Chicken, Croutons and Dressing- Jack in the Box

Salads are viewed as one of the healthiest meals you can eat. The thing is, not all salads are made equal. The chicken club salad with crispy chicken from Jack in the Box might sound healthy, but in reality, it is just as bad as some of the cheeseburgers they offer.

If you get this salad with croutons and dressing, it can have around 827 calories with 56g of fat. What is ridiculous is that 500 of those calories come from fat. It also has 1,789mg of sodium and 49gs of carbohydrates. The crispy chicken is breaded causing the calorie count to go sky high. The creamy ranch dressing also helps throw the nutritional value of this meal out the window. If you order this salad with grilled chicken, no croutons, and a lower calorie dressing, it becomes instantly healthier. Keep that in mind next time you are craving a salad from Jack in the Box.

The good news is, these fast-food chains have been adding healthier items to their menus over the last few years. If you can steer clear of the meals on this list, your body will thank you. Feel free to share more unhealthy fast food items in the comments below!
