20 Of The Most Annoying Things to Hear As A Single Girl

Whether you are choosing to be single or ready for your next relationship, being single can be awesome and don’t let anyone try and tell you otherwise. Here are some of the most annoying things to hear as a single girl, that are we just sick of hearing!

1. “I have the perfect person for you who wants to meet you.”

It is possible that people are single because they want to be single. If I did not ask you to be my matchmaker, please do not take on that role.

2. “Maybe your standards are just too high.”

This one should just never be said. No one should ever have to settle for a partner. Keep your standards high, because along the way, you will find someone who will live up to them.

3. “Don’t worry you’ll find someone eventually.”

Wow, I had no idea. Because being single automatically means I have lost all hope and with be alone forever. I know I will most likely not be single forever, and I will date when I want to date, thank you.

4. “Really? But you’re so pretty and great.”

Because this is just so helpful and makes me feel so much better.

5. “Why don’t you want a boyfriend?”

Being single can be a great time in your life, and a great decision. Don’t let people judge you and make you feel like you are weird for not feeling like you need a boyfriend right now.

6. “Oh, you’re still single?”

Doesn’t hearing this just make you feel so good about yourself? Please, do not say this to someone. Either this is not by choice, or they are choosing to be single so everyone should respect that either way.

7. “Ugh I miss being single, must be so nice.”

Trying to make relationships seem bad is not a good way to make me feel better about not being in one. And yes, being single can be nice.

8. “You probably just need to get out more.”

Yes, this is exactly why I am not dating anyone right now. I do not need people trying to tell me why it is that I do not have a boyfriend. They think they are trying to help, but most likely will make me feel worse.

9. “Aww I guess we can’t go on double dates?”

This one is pretty much a given, and has no need to ever be said. I do not need to be reminded that I will not be doing couples things.

10. “Why did you two break up?”

This one can tend to get repetitive. It’s usually okay telling the story the first couple of times, but once the thirtieth person asks, you are just about ready to scream.

11. “Oh you’re not going to need a plus one.”

This is something that should be able to go unsaid, and I do not need to be reminded that I am showing up alone.

12. “So are you just like having fun right now?”

Even if you are just “having fun”, no one has any right to judge. You do you, and don’t let anyone try and make you feel bad for your life choices.

13. “Are you talking to anyone yet?”

I wasn’t the last time you asked, and I am still not, thank you for that reminder. I’m sorry that this is not my life goal right now.

14. “So do you always feel like the third wheel?”

Being single doesn’t mean I can’t have fun with my friends, even if they are all couples. Because I am single also does not mean that I can’t be around couples without being that third wheel at all times. And even if I am, I do not need to be reminded.

15. “Guys are dumb anyway.”

Yes, some guys can be, but mostly they are great, and saying this does not make me feel better. Trying to make up for the fact that I do not have my own guy to call dumb or not is not going to make me suddenly be so happy that I still do not have a boyfriend.

16. “I can’t wait to see who you’ll end up with.”

Me either, thanks for reminding me that this person does not exist yet.

17. “Maybe right now just isn’t your time.”

Comforting. It is possible that I chose this time to be single, and if not then I do not need to feel like I’m not meant to have a boyfriend.

18. “Don’t worry you’re making the right decision to be single right now.”

Thanks for letting me know. I didn’t realize until just now.

19. “I have a friend who’s single too, you guys should hang out.”

This one is great. We have something in common so naturally we should be friends, right? Just because we are single does not mean we all just hang around together and be sad that we are single.

20. “You must have so much free time.”

Yes, because I did not realize that being single means I have no life now. Just because I don’t have a boyfriend to spend all of my time with does not mean I have all of this time on my hands and am always lonely.
