The Best Hairstyle For Your Face Shape

There are many different face shapes out there considering everyone is unique but you can narrow it down to a core seven. The main seven face shapes are triangle, round, diamond, heart, square, oval, and rectangle. It’s important to know which one you identify as so that you can use it to your advantage.

There are many defining features for each face shape and each and everyone is beautiful in their own way! It’s all about knowing your angles and what works best for you. Here is a list of ways to accentuate your features and find a hairstyle that works best for your face shape!

1. Triangle

A triangle face shape is when the jawline is wider and more square than the forehead. The best thing is to do is have a hairstyle that will draw attention towards the top of the face rather than the bottom.

The best hairstyle to achieve that look is to go either with a short pixie cut like Scarlett Johansson or to go with a hairstyle with any type of bangs. Having bangs will draw attention to the top of the face where the bangs are located.

If you aren’t into the look of straight across bangs, you can always do cute side bangs or curtain bangs for a more modern approach.

2. Round

Round faces are another one of the most common face shapes and are pretty well proportionate. The only thing with a round face is that it is lacking more a defined and structured look so you’ll want to have a hairstyle that can bring some dimension to the face.

The best hairstyles for a round place would either be choppy cuts or anything with long layers. Also, the long length would be best suited for this face type. The best placement is to have layers that start around the jawline and to have some face-framing going on.

By having the layers and face-framing and it’ll hug around the face and make it appear less round and give it some more definition.

3. Diamond

A diamond face shape is a narrow face shape with the cheekbones as the widest point of the face. The forehead and jawline are more narrow than the cheekbones. This is a very angular face shape so the aim with a hairstyle would be to soften the sharp edges and balance out the face.

The best hairstyle for this face shape would be anything with lots of layers. A medium or long layers haircut would look the best and it’s okay to go a little more choppy. Because the forehead is more narrow, and the middle part would suit you the best. If you want to show off those cheekbones and beautiful bone structures don’t be afraid to throw your hair back in a ponytail and show off!

4. Heart

A heart face shape will feature a wide forehead, strong square cheekbones, and a narrow jaw and chin. The goal with the hairstyle that suits you best would be to minimize the forehead and to accentuate the chin and jawline.

To do this the best thing would be to have a side part and long layers. The side part covers part of the forehead to give it a smaller and less wide appearance while the long layers draw attention towards the bottom of the face. For length, we recommend either shoulder length or below for this face shape.

5. Square

A square face shape is similar to a rectangle one but more compact and not as long. If you have a square face shape like Reese Witherspoon you’re more than likely to have a sharp jaw, and wider forehead, and strong cheekbones. These are all beautiful features to have and you should embrace them.

This is another face shape that would suit a soft hairstyle. Having a soft hairstyle contrasts against the strong bone structure that you have and can help balance everything out. A good hairstyle for you would be a side part and loose curls. Also, because your face is not as long as a rectangle face shape, long locks would suit you best and help you elongate your face.

6. Oval

An oval face shape is one of the most common and well-balanced face shapes out there so if you have one then consider yourself blessed. Because an oval face is so balanced out a variety of different cuts and hairstyles will suit you. You could basically do anything with your hair and it will look great.

With that being said, if you are really looking for a cut and hairstyle to give yourself a wow factor then try and go with a sexy layered bob like Bella Hadid. Anything with some texture to it will really just accentuate your face. As far as actual hairstyles go you could either go for s structured and choppy look or a long and layered one, but either way you can totally rock it!

7. Rectangle

If you have a rectangle face shape like Kate Winslet then your defining features would be a sharp jaw and rectangular forehead. You have a gorgeous bone structure but sometimes it can be good to soften the harsh edges.

The best hairstyle for a rectangle face shape would be anything to soften the appearance. Soft waves and layers would fit best and nothing that looks too blunt or choppy. Rectangle face shapes also tend to have a longer face so it would be better to stick to short or mid-length styles. Overly long hair can make the face appear longer than it is.

If you are doing an up-do or leaving your hair down it is best to go for soft and romantic type fo styles. Another great tip is to try out curtain bangs it can really soften the face and give some good dimension.
