The Best Books Written By Celebrities

The Best Books Written By Celebrities

There are a lot of books in this world and they can be difficult to sort through. We have curated a list below of books written by some of our favorite celebrities and public figures ranging from autobiographies, children’s books, and cookbooks.

1. Becoming by Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama’s Becoming is a New York Times Best Seller for a reason. It is a memoir about her life, roots, and how she became the woman she is today. She digs deep into her childhood in Chicago and the experiences that built her. She also touches on her role as the First Lady, being a mother through it all, and her Public Health initiative. Michelle Obama is a powerhouse, and this book proves it. It is hard to not be inspired after reading this book. Don’t take our word for it; see for yourself! It’s number one on our list for a reason.

2. Bossypants by Tina Fey

The New York Times described this book as “a spiky blend of humor, introspection, critical thinking, and Nora Ephron-isms for a new generation.” If that doesn’t influence you to read this book, we don’t know what will. We all know who Tina Fet is, the outspoken, funny, and intelligent woman who graces our screens in shows like 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. Through humor and light-heartedness, Fey knocks this book out of the part by just being herself.

3. Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe

Stories I Only Tell My Friends is a funny and moving account of a Hollywood superstar’s life, Rob Lowe. We get to read about his early life, as he attended school with the Sheen brothers and thought of Martin Sheen as a father. We also get to know what it was like going to school with Robert Downey Jr. and the Penn brothers. Being in the public eye at just 15 years old wasn’t easy. He takes us through the good, the bad, and the ugly due to becoming an international icon so young. You will never want to put this book down because it gets more exciting page after page.

4. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling is a national treasure because of her humor, wit, honesty, and a care-free attitude. She’s also an incredibly successful boss that inspires so many of us day after day. If you loved her from the Office or her show, the Mindy Project, you would absolutely be obsessed with her book. She takes you through her childhood, growing up with immigrant parents, her observations on love, and her rom-com obsessions, and she gives us her insightful take on friendship, romance, and Hollywood. There’s nothing more you can ask for from this book because Kaling knocks it out of the park.

5. My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler

We all know that Chelsea Handler is hysterical on screen. She brings the same energy into this book, My Horizontal Life, her first autobiography that sparked many more to come after. This book, in particular, includes story after story about Handler’s one-night stand. With her quick-whit and killer sense of humor, you will be laughing through every word.

6. The World Needs More Purple People by Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart

This book is unlike the rest on this list; it’s actually a children’s book. But we could not leave out the beloved Kristen Bell when making this list. The World Needs More Purple People is a lesson on kindness and helping others. We all need a little bit more purple in our life, and Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart are here to show us how we can. This is a perfect book to inspire your young ones, and even yourself.

7. Shopgirl by Steve Martin

Shopgirl is a classic for a reason. The book is so memorable, it was turned into a movie starring the author himself, Steve Martin. The film also includes incredible actors such as Clare Danes and Jason Schwartzman. However, the movie would not have gotten made if it wasn’t for the novel, so before you cue it up on your screen, make sure you read the book first. It is all about a girl living in a big city after moving out of Vermont. She gets a job at Saks Fifth Avenue. She sparks an unlikely relationship with a “socially-inept” man and a womanizing millionaire. Unlike many of the books on this list, this is a fiction story rather than an autobiography.

8. Cravings by Chrissy Teigen

Cravings by Chrissy Teigen, although not a novel, is a book that you need to own. Inspired by some of her favorite foods ranging from comfort to Thai inspired meals, and more, there is something in here that you will enjoy. Paired with Teigen’s quirky summaries, this is a book that you don’t want to miss out on. Everyone will be impressed with the whole fish you prepared for your dinner party or the baby dutch over you whipped up for breakfast.

9. This Will Only Hurt A Little by Busy Phillips

Busy Phillips takes you through an honest account of her life and all of her craziness since being the limelight at such a young age. Described as a “hilarious, heartfelt, and refreshingly honest memoir” by the New York Times, this book will stick with you for a while. You, too, will feel more brave and ready to take on the world after closing the book’s cover.

10.We’re Going To Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union

In We’re Going To Need More Wine, Gabrielle Union includes powerful and thoughtful essays on her sexuality, gender, race, and more. It also includes Hollywood’s competitive world and her experience growing up in “white California suburbia while spending summers with her black relatives in Nebraska.” She discusses what it means to be a modern woman and truly lets the reader dig deeps and think about their own life and experiences. She lays it all out on the table, emulating strength, bravery, and courage. She breaks it all down with brutal honesty, revealing the path to her own self-discovery. Every page is filled with transparency, wit, humor, and poise.

Tell us what we left out in the comments below! We can’t wait to hear about your favorite celebrity books.
