We all have that one friend, or a few friends, who hasn’t been single basically ever. If any of my friends read this, I already know it’s me – bite me. No that does not make me a serial dater, although I did go through a phase where I was essentially a Bumble queen; and let me say, it was a lot of fun. I’m 24 and allowed to enjoy my youth every now and then. However, there is a difference between a serial monogamist and a serial dater. A serial monogamist is someone who wants to be in a relationship versus a serial dater; the person who just wants to see multiple people at one time. A monogamist take commitment seriously. Okay, while some of you say a they is someone who fears being alone, that could be true. Nevertheless, here are some signs you’re a serial monogamist #noshame.
This is obviously the most important sign of distinguishing if a serial monogamist. It’s the most obvious, no? They’re never without a boyfriend. They’re someone who has one long-term relationship. It’s a series of dating commitments.
A serial monogamist still talks about their exes in their new relationships since they switch out of them so fast. They simply can’t get their exes out of their head. Although – I would like to argue, that’s not necessarily the case. Most people in relationships still have thoughts about their exes. It doesn’t make you a serial monogamist. However, if you still obsess over your exes, then there is a problem.
If you are one, you like the stability of a relationship. Again, nothing to be ashamed of. Just make sure you want a relationship for the proper reasons.
People tend to think there are deeper issues at hand. If you recognize that you are a serial monogamist, take some time for yourself to develop and be alright with being alone. There is a reason you most likely feel the need to jump from relationship to relationship. Make sure you are giving yourself enough time to focus on yourself.
