Top 10 Songs That’ll Make You Fall More in Love with Los Angeles

Palm trees swaying, bright city lights shining on movie stars, everyone under the blazing sun trying to get their big break, that’s L.A. for you. It’s hard not to fall head over heels for Los Angeles, evident by the countless number of songs written about this amazing city. If you were not already crazy enough about L.A., here are 10 songs that are sure to make you wish you were walking the streets of the City of Angels.

1. Tiny Dancer – Elton John

“Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band”

This song, written by Bernie Taupin for Elton John, is about the free spirited women he met in Los Angeles and the overall ethereal feelings that come with the city. When listening to this classic, be ready to long for driving down Hollywood Boulevard with the windows rolled down and the music turned up loud.


2. Malibu – Miley Cyrus

“I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean / I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand / But you brought me here, and I’m happy that you did”

There’s nothing like falling in love in Los Angeles, more specifically in dreamy Malibu. Miley has it right, this song will make you dream of warm sand between your toes with ocean winds flowing through your hair at one of L.A.’s beautiful beaches.


3. Beverly Hills – Weezer

“I wanna live a life like that / I wanna be just like a king / Take my picture by the pool / ‘Cause I’m the next big thing”

This one’s all about the struggle of making it big, and the hopeless feelings that can arise out of it. This 2000’s hit is sure to have you picturing Hollywood stars and can be incredibly relatable if you’ve ever found yourself in search of your big break.

4. Under the Bridge – Red Hot Chili Peppers

“Sometimes I feel like my only friend / Is the city I live in, the City of Angels / Lonely as I am, together we cry / I drive on her streets cause she’s my companion / I walk through her hills cause she knows who I am”


With warm weather and always sunny skies, it’s clear to see how lead singer Anthony Kiedis found solace in his struggles through the city around him. There’s a great sense of nostalgic comfort when listening to this song that is sure to send you packing your bags to be able to call Los Angeles your home.

5. L.A. Woman – The Doors

“Well I just got into town about an hour ago / Took a look around, see which way the wind blow / Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows / Are you a lucky little lady in the City of Lights”

This nearly eight minute song is a Los Angeles staple, written about. . . you guessed it, the women of L.A.The chorus of this song will have you wishing you were a “lost angel,” dancing under the bright city lights of Los Angeles.


6. Another Day of Sun – La La Land Cast

“Climb these hills / I’m reaching for the heights / And chasing all the lights that shine / And when they let you down / You’ll get up off the ground / ‘Cause morning rolls around / And it’s another day of sun”

If this song doesn’t capture the essence of hopefuls in Hollywood, I don’t know what does. Featured in the opening sequence in La La Land, this homage to the City of Angels reminds us that picking yourself up and trying again is what it’s all about.

7. LA Devotee – Panic! At The Disco

Known for dark lyrics and killer vocals, lead singer Brendon Urie explains his deep love for Los Angeles and the good, the bad and the ugly that comes with this beloved city. He self-proclaims himself as a LA Devotee. At the end of the day, aren’t we all?

8. California Dreamin’ – The Mamas and The Papas

“All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray / I’ve been for a walk on a winter’s day / I’d be safe and warm if I was in L.A. / California dreamin’ on such a winter’s day”


One of the many things that makes Los Angeles like no other is the warm and sunny weather. That’s what this song is all about, longing for the L.A. sun on your face when you’re away.

Los Angeles really is a jungle: wild, free and oftentimes cutthroat. This banger will make you wanna let loose and have fun under the bright city lights.


10. City of Angles – Multiple Artists

Would this list even be complete without “City of Angels?” There are countless songs with this title, but some of my personal favorites are by Thirty Seconds To Mars and Miguel.
