10 Signs You’re From A Big Family

Having lots of siblings, cousin, aunts and uncles can only mean one thing. You've got a big family. These are signs you're from a big family!

Being from a big family definitely has its ups and downs. But if you grew up constantly surrounded by siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, you know you wouldn’t have it any other way. Below are 10 tell-tale signs you’re from a big family!

1. People know you, even if you don’t know them.

Since there’s like 45 of you and you all have the same last name, wherever you go, you’re bound to run into someone that knows your cousin, your uncle or your grandma. Not to mention the fact that you all have the same eyes or nose…people recognize you from a mile away, whether you know them or not.

2. Family events must be planned a year in advance.

You want to make sure everyone can make it, if they can’t then what’s the point? Planning farther in advance means more free dates on the calendar! With all your crazy schedules, it’s important to find time when you can all be together. Admit it, the more people there, the more hectic it will be which means the more fun it will be.

3. Your first drink was with your cousins.

Whether you were 16, 14, or even 10, you older cousins influenced you to sip your first beer. The taste was terrible but you forced yourself to like because everyone else liked it. Before you know it, you felt like you were on a cloud. This is called being drunk. Later in life when you’re a raging alcoholic, you can thank your older cousins.

4. If you’re in trouble, you go to your older cousins first, not your parents.

You got too drunk, you got a tattoo and you’re out of money. Who do you go to? Wrong, don’t tell mom. Talk to your 25 year old cousin who’s been to hell and back, they’ll know what to do. As much as they probably don’t want to help you, they have to, so appreciate it.

5. Family gossiping is like a bad game of telephone.

When you hear something, but you’re not entirely sure you heard it correctly, you pass it on anyway. No one’s gonna believe what cousin Patrick did!! By the end of this, you’re gonna find out that everything you heard wasn’t true at all and Patrick is still alive and doing well.

6. Inside jokes are still funny 6 years later.

Do you remember what happened at the family reunion in 2007? Yeah, and you’re still laughing about it. Even though it wasn’t funny at the time, now it’s all everyone talks about at Thanksgiving. Family memories come from all sorts of situations, good or bad, mostly good, but sometimes bad.

7. You all think your Grandma’s favorite.

Grandma deserves credit for remembering all our names and our birthdays, but I bet this makes you feel special, right? You think you’re the most memorable in her mind, but newsflash, you aren’t. It’s her job as a grandma to make all of us feel special in our own way, and she does a pretty damn good job, but don’t get your hopes up too much because you’re just another grandkid.

8. Your aunts and uncles yell at you like you’re their own children.

Being close with each other sometimes brings negative aspects. Like how when you mess up, anyone and everyone in the family has permission to yell at you and reprimand you, even without asking your biological parents because in this family, we’re all basically siblings and parents to each other.

9. You know everyone like the back of you hand because you’ve spent so much time together.

Since you’re always together, you can pick up the vibes of the room pretty quickly. You know when to talk to someone and when not to, and if you know them REALLY well, you can tell exactly what happened. When it comes to Christmas, you know what to get everyone because you know them so well. You really can never disappoint with presents.

10. You couldn’t be more thankful to be apart of such a great family.

You don’t have to put up with your family, you just choose to because you know you’re the luckiest person in the world to have such an amazing group of people constantly by your side. Being related to them was something out of your control, but being best friends with them was something you chose to do, and you couldn’t of been happier with the choice you made.
