When dating a guy, it can sometimes be hard to tell if you guys are a right fit. There are a few red flags that you should look out for. Here are some signs he’s not the one, and you should be moving on.
1. You won’t make future plans with him, just in case
Most couples enjoy the idea of planning together. This could be booking a romantic city break or a beach holiday. It may even be something as simple as agreeing to attend a wedding together, or buying tickets to a concert. All of these things are enjoyed by couples, but if you’re doubting your relationship you’ll lack the enthusiasm to commit to anything. Let’s face it, nobody wants to explain the absence of their plus one. (#Awkward).
2. Your looking at other people
Most of us can appreciate an attractive guy or girl. It would be idiotic to say that when we are in relationship we don’t recognise this, of course we do! Whilst it’s ok to recognise that cute guy at the gym, it’s not ok to want to take things further. Attraction can be powerful, but if you love your current partner, you would never act in such a way that could ruin your relationship. To love somebody is to respect them and without respect you have nothing.
3. You find yourself saying ‘but he’s really nice’
Sometimes, as much as we would like a relationships to work, it can be lacking in chemistry. These signs he’s not the one like, have you ever dated a person who is everything you’ve always wanted? (On paper.) Every girl want’s that text book prince charming, the kind who sends those good morning texts and the goodnight I love you phone calls. He’s the kind of guy your mum adores and the type who takes his grandma shopping once a week. He is “Mr Perfect” so to speak. However if your dating somebody simply because they are kind, then you may want to revaluate your feelings towards them.
4. He irritates you
Most of us when in love tend to overlook our partners imperfections. In fact, were usually so besotted that we believe them to have no faults at all. Quite often we pick up on our partner’s traits and habits, what’s alarming is when they start to bother us.
Is his singing in the shower driving you insane? Does the way he chews his food send shivers down your spine? If so, maybe it’s time to move on.
5. He doesn’t make you laugh
Laughter is key in any relationship. If you can’t laugh together or be silly around one another then you’re wasting your time. What most of us want is a best friend who we find attractive. It’s ok to have a super-hot guy, but if he bores you to tears it’s just not going to work. It’s only a matter of time before Mr Fun comes along and steals your heart.
6. You have nothing in common
We like to spend time with the people who share our common interests. Of course it’s not always necessary that we mirror each other in terms of hobbies and music tastes, this would be insanely boring. However it’s important that you can relate on some level. Maybe you have different tastes in music but both enjoy hiking. Or maybe you can never agree on a film but you can always agree on food. If you find you can never agree on anything, then maybe you need to find someone better suited to you and huge signs he’s not the one.
7. You can’t see a future with him
When looking at the bigger picture it’s important for most of to know if we are investing are time into the right person. If you are not thinking about the future, it’s clear that you are not taking your relationship seriously. This is ok if you are happy to have a fling. However if you are the type of person who is looking for marriage , children and a white picket fence then you need to figure out if you are dating the right person. If you’re certain the guy you are dating will never give you what you want, then it’s time to find someone who will.
8. He doesn’t excite you
At the start of every relationship you have the honeymoon period. Of course this fades over time, but what happens when it fades completely? You no longer say those three little words, and you can’t remember the last time you had sex. When your relationship hits this point you have to ask yourself; can you work on this? Is it a case of having become too comfortable in your relationship? Or is it time you admitted that romance is dead?
9. You make excuses
Do you find yourself coming up with little white lies? Do you recall telling your partner you’re going to the gym, when really you’re at home catching up on the latest episode of Gossip Girl? If you often make excuses to avoid your partner then something isn’t right. Sure, we all like a little bit of alone time, but if you find yourself attending the cinema alone I think it’s time to find someone new to share your popcorn with.
10. You keep him separate from your friends
If you’re keeping your partner away from your friends it’s probably because you’re worrying what will happen if you split up. You don’t want to cause an awkward situation where your friends don’t know whose side to take during the break up. Also if you’re feeling fed up of your partner you will definitely want to spend some time alone with your friends there are signs he’s not the one.
