Quick and Simple Japanese Fried Rice Recipe
I remember I ate a lot of pasta when I first moved off campus. I shared a kitchen with another girl and both of us didn’t know how to cook. We ended up eating a lot of pasta because it was easy to make. I didn’t know how to cook other food until one of my Japanese friends shared this Japanese fried rice recipe with me. I thought it’d be great to share this recipe with you if you’re bad at cooking like me. This recipe is really simple and easy! The recipe serves 2 people. You’ll have something to eat for tomorrow. Leftovers are always a good way to save money and time!
The ingredients are:
- 1 cup frozen green peas (thawed)
- 3 cups cooked Japanese rice
- 1 small carrot, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1/4 lb boneless chicken breast, cut into small cubes
- 2 tbsp neutral oil (canola, grapeseed)
- 1 tbsp tonkatsu sauce (vegetable and fruit sauce. I use Bull-Dog)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 2 eggs
First have everything chopped and ready to make your fried rice.
In a pan over medium heat, add oil, garlic and fry for about 1 minute. Carrots usually take longer time to cook, add chopped carrots and fry for about 2 minutes. Then add chicken and cook till the chicken is cooked through.
Add rice and peas and mix together.
Add soy sauce, tonkatsu sauce, black pepper and salt, and mix well. Push the rice to one side and break the eggs on the clear side.
Slowly scramble the eggs and then mix with the rice. Taste and adjust the amount of sauce as needed. That’s it! It’s done. It’s that simple and easy!
