5 Places To Visit In Chicago While You Visit

As a Chicago native, I’m always asked where the best places to go in Chicago are and whats the best activities to do while being in the city. There’s plenty of options to choose from, but if you want to see the city fast and in the cheapest way, this article will help you out! Whether it’s a weekend trip or an extended stay, here are the best places to visit in Chicago while you’re there!

1. The Bean/Millennium Park

This isn’t a typical kind of town square you’ll see in any other city. Millennium Park is home to a unique mixture of architecture, art, and gardens that will keep you in awe throughout your walk. The park hosts many concerts, exhibitions, and other events from spring to fall, so there’s always something going on under the sweet architecture.

The Bean (otherwise known as the Cloud Gate) is a super popular spot for tourists and residents to hang out and people-watch or grab a bite to eat. Don’t forget to take a picture of your reflection in the giant sculpture!

2. Navy Pier

This pier is loaded with all kinds of different activities to choose from, so its a good starting point for the day! With plenty of food stops, games, boat rides, and shopping that can be done, you’ll never want to leave! And the best part: the view is incredible of the city and of Lake Michigan.

If you choose to end your day early on the Pier, its only a short walk (or bike ride!) to one of Chicago’s multiple beaches. Have fun exploring this one-of-a-kind pier!

3. Skydeck

Located in the Willis Tower (formally known as the Sears’ Tower. I grew up calling it the Sears’ Tower and then they changed it in 2009, but I will continue to call it the Sears’ Tower), the Skydeck is a super popular tourist spot because it gives you a bird’s-eye view of the entire city, from every angle. You’re able to stand in the glass box (the observation deck) and look down on the streets below and see the tiny, tiny people go about their day. If you’re scared of heights, this definitely isn’t for you!

4. Wrigley Field

Home to the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field is a great choice for tourists to get a feel for what the city is like. Its the oldest park in the National League and the scoreboard is still hand-turned! The stadium gives you a great view of the city and there’s plenty of food options within short walking distance. Its located on the North Side of the city and its surrounded by neighborhoods that have the option to watch the game from their rooftops behind the outfield.

I can’t believe I’m including this spot in this article because I’m a White Sox fan. But I had to be a good sportsman.

5. Giordano’s Pizzeria

If you think you’ve had good pizza before, you’re wrong. Giordano’s will blow your mind with their deep-dish pizza. I’m craving it as I type this article, it’s so good. This stuffed pizza has a top and bottom crust stuffed with cheese in between and you have the option to add in more toppings like pepperoni, sausage, spinach, and many others.

The pizza is finished with sauce and parmesan on top. Be prepared for cheesy goodness!

Comment below if you’re taking a trip to Chicago anytime soon! I’d love to give you more places to see than what’s on this list! There’s so much to do in this city!
