You want to use a photo editing app that is going to keep your photos looking authentic while providing the best lighting, filters, and aesthetics to really highlight all the fun you’ll be having. Documenting the best hot girl summer in the most attractive way is how we want summer 2021 to go.

Whether it’s a trip to the beach, a road trip with family or friends, a concert, or an outdoor barbeque, you’re going to want pictures of all the things you do this summer that you’re social media feeds missed last summer. Using a photo editing app will help you create edits that will lead to an aesthetically pleasing feed this summer. We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 photo editing apps that are going to be perfect for your hot girl summer. Try them out, find which one fits you best, and document the hell out of this summer!

1. Snapseed

Snapseed is one of the most popular photo editing apps because it is free and easy to use even though it offers a wide range of powerful editing tools. It’s perfect for editing the photos you take when you’re just out and about enjoying the day. It’s perfect for both beginner and experienced photo editors because it lets you fix exposure and color while giving you the capability to crop and rotate your images. Certain tools let you edit just certain parts of the photo and allow you to remove certain things from your image. It also comes with a portrait feature and preset filters that can help you create a matching feed for all your social media accounts. This photo editing app is perfect for those just starting to edit their photos and will help you create stunning edits for all your images.

2. VSCO

The preset filters on VSCO are the game changers for this photo editing app. Whether you’re going for something bright and sunny or something moody, but still lively, VSCO will most likely have the filter for it. It is also a free photo editing app, but a subscription is required if you want the full range of filters and tools that the app includes. The filters VSCO provides are subtle and give photos a soft, faded look. Your hot girl summer will have understated edits with this photo editing app, but of course, you can adjust the strength of the filters to fit what you like. It’s also cool because you can use the same filters to edit videos you’ll take over the summer as well. VSCO is one of the most popular photo editing apps, a lot of famous creators and celebrities have found it to be the best for their own feeds.

3. Carbon

Carbon is one of the best photo editing apps if you’re going for a black and white feed this summer. While black and white might not scream summer, this photo editing app might change your opinion on that. You can create textures with this app that will give all of your photos a vintage look. There are also really cool light leak features that heighten the vintage look of your photos. Carbon has various preset filters that will help you find a black and white aesthetic that suits you while including a feature that lets you add some color to your photos – from subtle sepia to more vibrant color effects if you don’t want all black and white photos. Again, Carbon is a free photo editing app to download, but you’ll have to pay to get access to every filter and tool it offers.

4. Adobe Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom is the photo editing app that I have on my phone and I think it’s one of the best apps for editing. I have a few photographer friends who create presets that they sell for others to use on their photos, and Lightroom is the app that lets me buy and use the unique presets they create. You can use the app’s one-tap feature to apply said presets, then the easy-to-use sliding bars allow you to further adjust things like exposure, color, and detail. The advanced editing tools in this photo editing app give you complete control of your edits, and once you become familiar with this app it is going to be perfect for editing all of your summer adventures. My personal fave, it’s great especially if you’ve used it on a desktop computer before. Lightroom will help you create flawless edits that will encapsulate all the fun you’ll have this summer.

5. Afterlight

Afterlight is also one of the best photo editing apps if you like a range of preset filters because there are tons that are created by well-known mobile photographers on here. While the app lets you do basic editing like adjusting color, exposure, and sharpness, it also has advanced tools like curves and selective color. These let you fine-tune the colors and tones in your photos so you can get the best out of your images. There is also a customizable text and artwork feature that lets you add a whole new element to your images, as well as the double-exposure tool that lets you create combinations of blended images. Afterlight is the photo editing app that really lets you get creative because it enhances your photos in ways that some of these other apps might not. Again, it is free to download but an extra payment is required for the full range of editing awesomeness.

What are some photo editing apps that you like to use before you post to your feeds? Have you tried any of the ones we’ve listed? Did you like using those? Let us know in the comments!
