Boston University’s large population leaves you with a seemingly infinite amount of people to meet again, and again, and again. No matter where you are, whether in Mugar Library, walking along Commonwealth Avenue, or in the Marciano Commons Dining Hall (aka Baystate), you are bound to see one of these people at BU.
There is always a slight moment of hesitation when you’re crossing the street at the same time as a biker. Will they hit you? Usually it’s better to wait for them to go first, just to be safe.
2. Allston Crawlers
Cheers to the weekend! There is never a weekend completely devoid of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors ready to walk the lengths of Pratt Street and beyond to get into a frat party. The costs of Ubers and Lyfts, the short shorts, sweaty bodies, and tired eyes are all a necessary sacrifice for hours piled up into a dark, humid basement with music…and alcohol.
3. Library Dwellers.
No matter what time it is, you can always catch someone on every floor studying – or procrastinating – in Mugar.
4. GSU Tablers
You always see someone sitting at the tables of the GSU (George Sherman Union) lobby ready to hand out flyers, sell food, tell you about their charity, or invite you to a performance.
5. CFA Loiterers
What are you guys doing? What are you plotting? Don’t you have somewhere to be? LET ME INTO YOUR WORLD. Why are you always chilling in front of the building?
6. President Brown
JUST KIDDING! He is a mystery.
It is the brave and the bold who put it upon themselves to run through the throngs of people everyday along the BU campus in order to get a workout in. The most impressive part is that these runners keep going in the dead of winter. Major respect.
8. Questrom Students
Identified by their business clothes, you know when you run into a Questrom student at BU. They’re usually dressed with confidence, maybe holding a briefcase, and definitely wearing a cotton button down.
9. Late Students Who Still Stop For Coffee
You know who you are (wink wink, nudge nudge). The closer to class it is, the longer the Boston University Starbucks line, a paradox that many have noticed, and yet, it still happens. Is warm coffee worth being late to class? Hmm…
10. The Class Sleeper
Should you wake them up? Should you let them sleep? As long as you wake them up for the clicker question, they’re fine.
