Let’s face it. There will always be people you inevitably run into at USC whether you want to or not. If you’re walking to class or eating in Russell House, you will eventually run into somebody you know. Here is a quick list of people you will see probably more than once during your time at Carolina.

1. President Pastides

Pastides is known for being one of the most involved college presidents in the country (and one of the best). He is notorious for walking around campus and being at sporting events. He greets everyone he sees with a smile and it’s even on the USC Bucket List to get a selfie with him at some point while you are there.

2. Cocky

Like President Pastides, Cocky is also known for being at most big events held on and off campus. Cocky loves showing up at sporting events and posing for pictures with kids. He always knows how to hype up the crowd in any situation.

3. That guy you made out with downtown

We’ve all been there and yes, you will eventually run into said guy at some point again. The casual run in can be friendly or just awkward. It’s all about what you make it. He might not even recognize you if you go to class in anything but DT clothes (which we all do.)

4. Your favorite professor

Nothing makes your day brighter than running into your favorite professor who spent countless hours with you in office hours or showed you that you weren’t just a seat filled in the classroom. Someone who actually cared about you learning in their class and went above and beyond.

5. Your least favorite professor

With that being said, it’s quite possible that you will run into your least favorite professor a few or more times around campus. Yes, I know. It sucks seeing somebody you despise. Whether they hated you because you didn’t participate or they were just horrible at teaching. You can’t avoid seeing them forever.

6. Somebody in your sorority or frat

If you are in Greek life, you will CONSTANTLY see people in your organization wearing their letters. Greek life is huge at USC which makes it pretty much impossible not to see somebody in it with you. This makes for an awesome time to catch up with a sorority sister or get to know somebody you might not know as well.

7. Gamecock Jesus

Gamecock Jesus is an incredible human being and it is tradition to see him at almost every single sporting event. Everybody at the University of South is a part of one big family and when you see Gamecock Jesus, you automatically feel like you already know him. If not, get to.

8. A student athlete

Student athletes are crawling all over campus at every point in the day. They don’t have to Aja Wilson or Perry Orth. Some look just like regular people (hint: because they are) and it’s just a matter of how well you know what the athletes look like. Once you start going to more soccer or baseball games, you’ll start recognizing faces around campus.

9. Somebody from Maryland

It is never hard to meet somebody from Maryland when walking around campus. When introducing people in a smaller class, a few of them will be from Maryland. Why you ask? I’m not quite sure. But if you didn’t notice it before, start paying attention to it now.

10. Your best-friend

When you and your bestie just happen to pass each other while walking to class, is it really a coincidence? It always puts a smile on your face when you happen to see your friend walking in front of you from a distance. USC is a big school but can seem pretty small when you start looking out for certain people.
