The Best Cheap Food Delivery Services

If you are anything like me, the thought of having to grocery shop let alone figure out what I want to eat is hard enough. I’m always craving something different and when I come home from a long day I usually just want to order in food. Living off of Domino’s, Pizza Hut or Papa John’s isn’t exactly a healthy diet. Thankfully there are now food delivery companies which pick up orders from your favorite restaurants. I’m sure you or your friends have used one of these digital delivery order services. Here’s a list of the top 6 delivery services.

Grubhub is currently the most popular food delivery service option around the country. They are essentially in every major Metropolitan city: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philly, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and more. There are more than 55,000 restaurant partners in over 1,100 cities. This pickup and delivery service is a go-to for me. It’s essentially the price of your meal plus a delivery charge which varies between restaurants. The only down side is there is usually a minimum charge but that tends to be $10.

Similar to Grubhub, Eat24 has it’s own ordering portal which allows you to place your take-out/delivery order. Instead of having to order by phone, Eat24 has got you covered. Eat24 is owned by Yelp but has its standalone app and is offered in over 1,500 cities; chances are you’ve got it near you. Eat24 only works with restaurants who supply their own delivery drivers which is a benefit if you were just looking to order delivery from a restaurant anyways. This app makes it easy to narrow down what you want for dinner based of cuisine, like most cheap delivery food services.

This food delivery service is different than Grubhub and Eat24 since it’s categorized in an “Uber of Food Delivery” category. This company operates the same way, it just employees its own drivers. The drivers pay for the order upon pick-up using a company-issued card. Doordash is similar to other delivery services Caviar and Postmates (below).

Bad-luck for those of you who don’t live in the following cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, NYC, Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area. If you do however, this app rules. It’s owned by the payment company Square. The benefit of using Caviar is that its helped thousands of people earn an income by being bike couriers and drivers. They offer delivery from a curate list of select restaurants for a flat fee of $9.99. The perk is that many of the restaurants found on Caviar don’t usually offer delivery of any kind. Caviar is a lot more straightforward than the other food delivery services making is a seamlessly uncluttered experience. This is however considered a “premium food experience” so it’s a bit more costly than other food delivery services mentioned.

Best Healthy Food Subscription Boxes

Since the New Year is approaching, well somewhat, I’ve made it my mission to cook at least three times a week. Here’s the thing though; I’m terrible at deciding what I want to eat for the week, what ingredients to buy and how much to purchase. If we’re being honest, I’m also not the best cook. These insanely cheap ingredient and recipe providers make cooking as easy as it gets. For all these services you basically pick a meal plan of how many meals you want to cook a week and what your diet is like. There are vegetarian options, vegan options, you name it! I honestly think these providers are cheaper than taking two trips to the grocery store. Check ‘em out. These are the best healthy food subscription boxes.

Blue Apron

Blue Apron is commitment free, personalized and incredibly convenient; I mean, how much more convenient can delivery get? Blue Apron has means starting at $8.99 which is insane! When was the last time you got a decent dinner for under $10? Subway does not count as decent. You can do a 2-person plan with 3 recipes per week for $59.94 a week. There is always the option of a family plan but I’m assuming you don’t need that much food. All the ingredients to the meals you select are shipped to you including spices and other cooking materials you will need. The only downfall is that you aren’t told specifically which ingredients go for which meal. Blue Apron is one of the most famous and healthy food subscription boxes you can get.

Plated is the most expensive meal delivery service option coming in at $12 a meal. Although it’s the most expensive, it is the most flexible. Plated lets you decide if you want to order recipes that are for two, four or six people which is perfect for people who do dinner parties or families. It’s also the only service that offers you dessert which is a bonus. If you have a sweet tooth you should probably opt for this option. There’s a minimum of four plates which comes in at $48. Honestly though, think about how much money you spend going out or to the grocery store. Half of the time you don’t even use the ingredients. Plated is another one of the healthy food subscription boxes that are commonly subscribed to.

Hello Fresh

Hello Fresh is a two or four-person subscription which delivers three meals per week; it’s truly one of the best healthy food subscription boxes on the market. This company is now the exact same price as Blue Apron, coming in at $59.94 for three meals. You have an option of selecting a vegetarian option which is a cheaper box. Hello Fresh does have the smallest recipe choices to choose from each week, but there is absolutely something for everyone. The recipes are extremely simple and come out looking identical to how they look on the recipe cards. If you are a vegetarian, opt for Hello Fresh. This is the healthy food subscription boxes that I opted for. So far I am incredibly happy with my healthy food subscription boxes I’ve received!
